Photography by Clem Barry A choral group from Letch- worth Village on Thursday pre sented a Christmas program at the Rotary Club meeting at the Tor Haven Casino. Dr. Oleh Wolansky. a member of the club and director of Letchworth Village, arranged the program. The choral group enjoyed lunch with the club members. President Herbert Rosen an nounced that the club ’ s attend ance record had improved in November, and was expected to be even better in January, when a number of programs will be presented. FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON DEGREE WINNERS Among the students awarded degrees by Fairleigh Dickinson University are Michael Denning of Garnerville apd Norene Tra- ma of Valley Cottage, bachelor of science, and John Stravalle jr of Thiells, bachelor of arts. They completed work during the summer session. Flanagan Photo Service Former Stony Pointer Youth Program Died Upstate at 91 Begin Jan. 10 William Brooks, 91, a former resident of Stony Point, died Christmas Day at Canandaigua. N. Y., where he resided. He was a retired salesman. His late wife was Mrs Carol ine D. Brooks. Survivors include a daughter. Miss Florence Brooks of Canandaigua, a ne phew, Norman Brooks of Flor ida, and a niece, Miss Catherine Brooks of New Jersey. Interment was in Mount Rest cemetery on Tuesday und - the direction of the George Mi Holt Funeral Hime. Religious serv ices were held in Canandaigua. MRS. DAVIS DIED, RELATIVES HERE Mrs. Joan Lynch Davis, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs, Thomas A. Lynch, former ly of Haverstraw, died on Christmas Day at Lowville, N. Y. Previously such meet ings were closed to the public. HIGH TOR POST VISITS REHAB High Tor Post 2803. Veterans of Foreigtj Wars, of Haverstraw, visited the Rehabilitation Hos pital in West Haverstraw and presented Christmas gifts to veterans confined to the hospi tal on Dec. 20. This has been an annual func tion of the orgaization. The Chairman of this event was Senior Vice Commander Tom Cleary. He was ably assisted by John Sunseri, long time post member. RIVERA GRADUATES FROM GREAT LAKES Navy Seaman Apprentice Daniel Rivera, son of Mr. and Mrs. Esebio Rivera of 121 Clove aye., has graduated from re cruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, 111. He is a graduate of North Rockland High School. At Don Bosco The Don Bosco Youth Center closed Dec. 20 and will remain closed until Jan. 10. 1972. with the exception of a dance which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The center will completely re organize and establish a winter program which will begin Jan. 10 and terminate June 1, 1972. Only those youth in the North Rockland area between the ages of 13 to 18 (boys and girls) will be eligible to participate in the winter program. All those who are presently members must re-register. AH present members below the age of 13 may re-register in June tor the summer program, but may not participate in the winter pro gram. The fee will be 51 and regis tration will take place Jan. 3 through 6, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the center on Filor lane. Parents must accompany those who wish to enroll, with proof of age. The winter program, begin ning Jan. 10 will consist of basketball clinics; weightlifting classes, arts and crafts pro grams; pool and ping pong tour naments. Facilities wiU be made available for those who do not wish to participate in an organ ized program. MOTOR VEHICLE TAX SHARE REPORTED Stale Comptroller Arthur Levitt announced the distribu tion of 53,003,218 as the fourth 1971-72 installment of motor vehicle tax receipts to the coun ties of the State and to the City of New York for the counties comprising the City. New York City ’ s share of this total is 5836,060. Rockland County ’ s share is 544,721, compared with 576.493 for the same period last year. FALSE ALARM TURNED m NEAR FIRE SITE A false alarm was sounded Saturday evening from the box at Main and Third sts., a short distance from the scene of the fatal fire at 63 Main st. on Nov. 20. More false alarms have been turned in from this box than from any other box in the village. STERLING BANKRUPT William Sterling of 83 Quaker rd., Mt. Ivy, has filed a bank ruptcy petition listing liabilities of 513,362 and assets of ^,375. RAINY SUNDAY There was some rain on Sun day, following the bright sun shine of Christmas Day. Over four hundred children tended the Christmas party sponsored by the Immaculate Conception church in Stony Point on Sunday, Dec. 19. The rafters rang as the chil- drw joined in singing Christ mas' songs and carols led by the folk group \Muther Mur phy ’ s Minstrels.\ Tamara Sun- guroff, former lead singer with NBC-TV Opera, who has made major appearances throughout the world, made a special guest appearance. She enthralled the audience with her rendition of \Oh Holy Night. ” There were songs such as \I ’ m Gettin Nutten for Christ mas\ by Michael Tabone, Jim my Chichetti, and Michael Mc- nenamin, and \All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth\ by Debbie Murphy. Ver onica Connolly and Jane Court ney sang their lovely version of \Silver Bells. ” After the song fest, there were light refreshments. The grand finale was an appear ance by Santa Claus who did a little dance, chatted with the children, and gave each child a favor as he left! Also attending were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph S. Smith, the Rev. Robert E. Lee, and the Sisters of Charity. WEST POINT BAND TO PLAY IN COUNTY The U. S. Army Recruiting Station at Nanuet has announc ed that the United States Mili tary Band of West Point will be in concert at the Spring Valley Senior High School March 1 at 2:30 p.m.. The event will be sponsored by the Spring Valley Rotary Club and the high school. No admission will be charged. INJURED IN ACCIDENT One person was injured in a 3-car crash on Route 9W last Thursday. Nabor Pinerio of 83 Picarello dr. was treated for a knee injury. His car was struck in the rear by one driven by Thomas Kulp of 9 Sunrise dr., Stony Point. Mr. Kulp ’ s car had been struck by one driven by William Thomas of Tomkins Cove.
