R. Elevator, which was burned on Monday eve, Tth inst. - 'There was an immense quantity of grain in the Elavator at the time of the fire- about. 250,000 -bushels-and this, although partially burned, was not so badly injured but that it attracted a crowd of our poorer citi- zou to obtain it at as low a rate as possible, Ever since the fire it has beca sclling nt from two to three shillings a bag, the buyers using it fo: the purpose of feeding to stock of all kinds. 'The walls of the Elavator partially fallen, still remained since the burning in a very sha- ky und dungerous condition, an average height of forty feet, and daily quite a crowd,principal- ly women, have heen en the spot buying\the dumaged graio, and carrying it off in small carts or bagy, Yesterday, as previously, a crowd was be- tween the two western walls, in which those having charge of the grain were selling it, when with scarcely a prezronition, the second wall to the cast fell fowards on the vacancy, crushing down a number, (the real has not been ascertained) and burying them beneath the ruing. _ A number were thrown into the creek by the falling wall, but were Fortunately resened therefrom by some men at work on canal boats and vessels near by. Immediately n crowd gathered and the most earnest endeavors were made by a body of 'men to rescue, if possible, those un- fortunately buried beneath the ruing, and to recover the doard, 'The first brought out, after severe Inbor, wis a poor woman who was stricken face downward, into the grain. - Her lower limbs were frightfully crushed, and it is impossible that she can survive. 'The next removed was a German woman; Ars. Gardner, residing on Genesco street. Her neck was broken, and when found, she was lying on her breast. - Her body was crushed all out of shape, and was a mass of gore and 2 DE. D. F. Dyspepsia, a disease which is probably more prevalont, in all its various forms, than any other, and the cause of which may always be attributed to derangements of the digestivo organs, can be cured without fail by using HOSTETTERS STOMACH BITTERS, as per directions on the bottle. For this disease every physician will recommend Bitters of some kind; then why not use an article known to be infal- lible? All nations havo their Bitters, as a pro- ventive of disease and strengthener of the sys- tem in goneral; and among them all there is not to be found a more healthy people than the Germans, from whom this preparation ema- nated, based upon scientific experiments which have tended to prove the value of this great preparation in the serio of medical science. Faven asp Aavs®.-This trying and provok- ing disease, which fixes its relentless grasp on the body of man, reducing him.to a mere sha- dow in a short time, and rendering him phy- sically and mentally usoless, can be driven from the body by the use of HOSTETTER'S RENOWNED BIPTERS. Further, noneof the above-stated diseases can be contracted, oven. in expogod situations, if the Bitters aro used. as per directions. | And as they neither create mauser nor offend the palate, and render un- necessary any change of dict or interruption of ordinary pursuits, but promote sound sleep and healthy digestion, the complaint is re- moved as speedily as is consistent with the pro- duction of a thorough and permanent cure. ° For Persons in Advanced Years, who are suffering from an enfeebled constitution and infirm body, these Bitters are invaluable as & restorative of strength and vigor, and need only bo tried to be appreciated.
