ROXBURY FIREMEN SUBDUE FLAMES In barn fire on Edith Schiister farm on Main street there Wednesday morning. Flames were tmder control by noon. Constant watch was m ain tained by town and county highway crews in Broad- street, Peck and Fox hollows, where high w a ter ordinarily washes out the roads. How ever, other than easily re paired erosion of roadside ditches, the highways suf fered no severe d am ages. The U lster County Red Cross and the Office of Civil Defense called the Shandaken supervisor’s office offering help, if needed. Sponsored by the Inter church council of Fleisch- manns and M argaretville, it featured a 40-voice choir representing the a r e a church es. It was conducted by R ichard Tucker, with Grace Boulton as organist and Kim W agner as flutist. Revs. George Boatwright, M orris Dwyer, Linda H a rter, and W illiam H a rter read scrip ture. Closing words were given by Claudia Gray. Congregational singing of carols was interspersed with traditional Christm as pieces perform ed by the choir. Cheryl Em erson and Laurie M estyanek sang solos. Ad vent candles were lit by Steve Kehoe, Cynthia McLean, and Jane Halpem . .M arian Connell and Aileen Moore chaired the refresh- Belleayre, Dec. 27—Three m em b ers of the newly ap pointed Town of Hardenburgh planning b o a rd m et Thursday night to discuss the duties of the board and to plan for future activities. The board has scheduled m eetings for the third Thursday of each month. A sm all sedan operated by I Charles J. Stroh, 17, and a ‘ large tractor-trailer operated by John R. Redman. 40 of Davenport collided at m id night Friday on route 28 west of Phoenicia. Constables re ported that the Stroh car was attem p ting a left turn off route 28 on to the E rnst road at the sam e tim e the truck was a ttem p ting to pass. Both vehicles were northbound. The sedan was demolished, but the truck escaped with a bent fender. Gary WUkinson, 24, of White Sulphur Springs skid ded off the Oliverea road Tuesday morning near the Valley View House. The car had to be towed away. An unidentified m otorist drove off Sunday afternoon after his c a r h ad spun around on route 28 in attem p ting to avoid the dog, which had run into the highway. The spin propelled the vehicle into the dog, but the driver did not stop to a id the anim al. Letters were read from Mrs. Olive A. M acLaury of Albion, founder of the club in 1931, and from form er m em b ers Lela W ickham and Catherine Flem ing and from others. The book, “The Trees of C h ristm a s” by Edna M et calfe, was reviewed by Miss H a rriet Smith. The book told of Christm as customs in m ost im p o rtant countries of the world. The book was illus trated by colored pictures of the Christm as trees. Christm a s cookies and tea and coffee were served at the close of the afternoon, Mrs. E a r l T. S chreiber poured. It was asked that they w e a r light clothing or have reflec tive tape put on their jackets and coats, so they m ay be seen more easily. The three men Antonio F e r r a ra, 31, Vito F e r r a r a , 34, and Joseph Tumminello, 40, appeared voluntarily before Town Justice Andrew Schu- m an Jr. of Roxbury, where they m ade civil compromises on the charges of p o ssessing a ferret without a perm it and himting with a ferret. The trio paid compromises of $102.50 each and were released. The ferret was confiscated by the D e p a rtm ent of E n vironm ental Conservation.
