Griffin Halcottville, Dec. 27 The annual firem e n ’ s Christmas party was held on Saturday. The annual Christmas en tertainment was held at the United Methodist church here on Thursday evening under the sponsorship of the mem bers of the Sunday School The regular meeting of the Wawaka Grange was held on Monday evening, Christmas gifts for the shut-ins of the community were prepared by the Grange, and the boxes were packed for distribution before Christmas. Police Cars Change The color of patrol cars being acquired for the New York state police during 1974 will be gold and blue, the state colors. The Department of State Police reports that the change from the tradi tional black and white is to increase recognition by motor ists of the vehicles as police cars. Retired Army Officer John Harold Kelly, 64, who retired from Arm y service to Roxbury in 1972, died Friday at his home there. His funeral was held Mon day morning at the Miller funeral home in Roxbury. Rev. John Bandt, pastor of the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed church, officiated. Burial will be in the Roxbury cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blanca Mallorga Kelly, his mother, Mrs. Mabel Kelly of Roxbury, and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Pitkethly of Mel bourne Beach, Fla. A native of Roxbury, he was bom Aug. 2,1909, the son of John and Mabel Morse Kelly. He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Army and had served in World War 2 and the Korean war before working at the Pentagon in W a shin^n. He was a member of the Ralph S. Ives Jr. American Legion post in Roxbury. The Delaware Valley Hos pital in Walton, has been notified that its cancer activ ities program has again been granted a three-year ap proval, by the American College of Surgeons. O’Hearon Services Were Held Last Week Funeral services were held last week Wednesday for Frank P. O’Hearon of Marga retville, who died Dec. 17 at the Margaretville Memorial hospital. The services were private and were held at the Herrick funeral home in Margaretville. Mr. O’Hearon, who was 76, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Todd O’Hearon, four brothers and a sister. He was bom Jan. 29, 1896 in Rhinelander, Wis., and served as a seaman during World War 1. He was an ironwoi;ker by trade.
