M a r g a r e tville B o a rd P a s s e s Oog O rdinance An ordinance for the con tro l of dogs in the village of M a rg a r e tville w a s passed vm anim ously a t a m e e ting of the village b o a r d M o n d a y night. A public h e a r in g on the proposition h a d been held Sept. 10 and w a s larg e ly attended. M o st w e re in f a v o r of passage. The new law will tak e e ffect Oct. 15. The regulation prohibits the running-at-large of dogs and sets p e n a lities f o r o w n e rs who violate any of se v e r a l p r o visions. A violator m a y be fined up to $100 and be s e n t e n c ^ to not m o re t h a n 15 days in jail for e a c h violation. The com p lete tex t of the ordinance ap p e a r s on page five. The enforcem e n t is in charge of a dog w a r d e n yet to be nam e d . It is an ticipated th a t the village will use the sam e w a rden a s the Town of M iddletow n . This had prevented his being in W a shington for the p r e s e n ta tion. The p r e s e n tation w a s to have b e e n m a d e a t the annual m e e ting of the N a tional Security In d u s tr ial asso c ia tion. M r. K elly had been ch a ir m a n of the bo a r d of tru s tees of th a t association and w a s stepping down from th a t p osition. Since M a y he has been president of the New York S tate E le c tr ic and G a s cor poration. A fter s e rvice in the A rm y A ir Corps during W orld W a r 2, he began a c a r e e r in defense-oriented industries, sta r tin g w ith L ink A v iation a t B ingham ton in 1945. M a rgaretville firemen, using the dis&ict pum pers, responded to an a la r m a t 8:35 a.m . and w e t down the ruins of the shed, w h ich w a s a to tal loss w ith its c o n tents. J . M rs. J o h n K elly, a lifetim e resident of F leischm a n n s , has sold h e r M a in St. hom e to M rs. N o ra Pollock of H a m den, Conn., a n d h a s m o v e d to E a s t A u rora, N. Y. The K elly w a s originally located on the fo rm e r John E m o r y Scudder lot and moved to its p r e s e n t location m a n y y e a r s before its purchase from M a x S ilverm a n in 1919. In 1920 the house w a s com p letely rebuilt, but the original w ooden pegs and tim b e r s a r e still a p a r t of the stru c tu r e . M r. and M rs. T h e y com p lained th a t the condition of the B e ech Hill road o v e r th e last few y e a r s w a s ruining t i r e s on th e ir cars, constantly knock ing w h eels out of line and m a k ing trav e l d ifficult. The re p a ir crew w o rked h a r d M o n d a y and again W e d n e sday and h a s filled in the potholes over a stretch of about th r e e m iles on the low e r B e e c h Hill road. The road lies in th e Town of Andes, and th e w o m e n say th a t com p laints to th e su p e r intendent of highw a y s about the condition of th e r o a d have brought no r e s u lts. T h e ir m e thod of r e p a ir m a y be unorthodox, b u t they have achieved resu lts. One of the w o m e n left the job for a while to n u r s e a baby. She r e tu rn e d later, bringing an o lder child to h e lp w ith the w o rk. L loydrick B u tler h a s h elped the crew by loading and hauling fill for th e holes in the road. They have used gravel and crushed s h a le. O therw ise d ir t is shoveled out of the ditch a n d into th e potholes. One of the w o m e n on the crew said th a t they can get alm o s t a s m u c h w o rk done in the sam e am o u n t of tim e as the m e n because they do not spend as m u c h tim e chew ing tobacco a n d drinking b e e r.
