Mrs. Albert Preiser of Scars dale, Mrs. Peter Dingy, Mrs. Donald Dingy of Ceu-mel and Mrs. Dorothy Stewart of Liver pool, England, spent Wednesday and Thursday of last week at the Preiser cottage. Miss Janis Lynn Jacques and friend, Stanley Storey, of Rut land, Vt., were Memorial day weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. Lynworth Jacques, and family. Kenneth Andrews, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Antirews, has completed his freshman year at Cortland State and is working for the summer as a lifeguard at the Little Pond state camp site and picnic area. David Taylor of New Kingston, Pomona naas- ter, presided. The morning session was oc cupied with business. George Adee of Wawaka Grange was elected assistant steward of Pomona in place of the late Francis Gockel. Herbert Hughes was elected on the executive conrmiittee to succeed himself. Both were instaUed at the afternoon session. The resolutions committee appointed included Ray Champ- lin of Pepacton, Harold Bedford of Col. Harper, Susan Morrison of Delhi and Merle Hunt of Mundale Granges. Delegates from 13 of the 16 subordinate Granges read their reports. Those reporting were Delhi, Utsayantha from Stam ford, BloomviUe, Pepacton from Downsville, Walton, Masonville, Wawaka from Halcottville, Col. Harper from Harpersfield, Mim- dale, Delaware Valley from Roxbury, Andes, Hancock and New Kingston. Dinner served at noon was of ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, and cupcakes and ice cream. Mrs. Ada Van Aken was chairman of the service and hospitality committee which served. Mrs. Dorothy Cortese came from Clark Mills, N. Y., to assist. The Pomona lecturer, Mrs. Ray Champlin, had charge of the afternoon literary program. Mrs. Marjorie Bellard Hansen sang. Her mother, Mrs. Susan Morrison, sang a t Grange meet ings in her youth. She was also present. A poem was read by Mrs. Chavis Moore of Col. Harper Grange and Ray Champlin re cited a poem. Memorial services were held for departed members. Each delegate laid a flower on the Bible in memory of the mem bers deceased since last year. Mrs. Hansen was soloist. Howard Tait, district deputy, was voted to continue in that office, with Mrs. Tait as juvenile deputy. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Champlin were voted delegates to state Grange, with Mrs. Laura Turner as alternate. There were three contests. The cookie contest winners were Mrs. Ray Bramley, first; Mrs. Dorothy Ruff, second, and Mrs. Maggie Banuat, third. The prizes for aprons were won by Mrs. Loretta McKean, Mrs. Eleanor DeVinney and Mrs. Elsa Sanford. The prizes for barbecue aprons were won toy Mrs. Jean Northrop, Mrs. Olive Butler and Mrs. Eleanor DeVinney. The September Pomona will be at Walton, with Mundale entertaining. There will be a flower show a t this time. Pang- man Gray was appointed on the vegetable committee to replace the late Perry Champlin. The resolutions committee an nounced four resolutions. The first asked for the repeal of the Smith-Walkley bill, which gave striking employes unemploy ment compensation after seven weeks. This was passed. Barent Rossman is spending a few days in Margaretville Me morial hospital for treatment. Mr. Rossman has been in poor health for several months.
