In ti« tovmm ease the foldg whioh oonipose the sereeu may he'covered with da?k greeu or blua velvet and the designs put on with Jap- anese gold and goW Wads. The Japa- nese gold is about the thickness erf stout tswine andt-ia put on by catching it down with buttonhole stitoh withyejjow sew- ing silk. The pattern should be stamped on the velvet before the screen is put together, or drawn on with a white cray- on. The foundation of the screen is stiff Gardboaru, two layers of which are used. Novel and very pretty is a frame of battenberg lace stretched over blue vel- vet with a cardboard foundation, 8 The photo is inserted between the velvet and the cardboard and shows in the circu- lar center. A pretty way of making a photo holder in this manner of an imi- tation lace doily is to gild the entire lace, afterward stretching it oser the \velvet. The gilding can be done with ordinary liquid gold. Care should be taken to have the laoe pinned out per- fectly flat while gilding it and leaving it flat until thoroughly dry. Almost any design for a doily can be used for this holder, provided it is not too large, and when a delicate shade of velvet or satin is used to cover the cardboard foundation the effect ia particularly dainty. A taking little triangular frame is covered with linen crash of a light ecru •color. The embroidery is done in silver green and white, the wreath being of mistletoe leaves and berries. The. rib- bon bow and the border are done in pale bine, and the whole is very dainty. A hanging affair shaped like a card case represents quite a novelty. The in- ner part consists of several leaves of §hin cardboard, covered with white silk and slightly wadded with scented CQt-s. ton, iBetween these leaves the photos cardboard, (?overe;dj with wnite i inside and out. Silver' chains Itng serve to suspend the Holder, and a silver clasp keeps the backs together at the. top. The foregoing is gleaned from de- scriptions and sketches of all kinds of photo frames by The Standard Design* e*. * u l was ite&Mta*; ft feig ta& wttii Bits J}§aia^i r ||;|^i m^my a§* piffi&aoM p||4iy#f §:. ^ingks &e w^jyrtii « i^S mmf mmMm mmmmmmA \fm AVlil :lill§ iliftl I mmimA : mtii tem&Ml A sin* m bos of fjgsj pills did m wait for nia, m $ | am now a w#l mm),\ £, MAlvymmm, last Awfewra, He, lor the pftpid'eupe of poMttps* ti§Hi Dyspepsia, Mkmsnm Man*- sea, and an disoyders @£ lifcoai&eh; •Unv, mi i§w§lg, tafe§ ;.
