A DECREASE OF CONTAGIOUS DI8EA8E3 during the woek is apparent from a comparison of the report with that of tbo previous weok—there having been only four cases of smallpox last week, against eight the prexious week; of scarlet fever, four against nine, and of diphtheria, throe against one. Thoro hr* been, however, an increase of one casecf typhoid fever, but this disease prevailing to such a limited extent and the increase being so small the figures are not consid ered as indicating auy permauout increase. The reg ular weekly mortality record has not yet beon made up, b u t it is probable that the number of deaths of last week will be two or three less than for the previous weok, when only two huudred wero recorded. Tbo complete exhibit was eaid to bo forthcoming. Instead of this, the Comptroller reports to-day tbat his offloo was broken into yesterday and all the vouchers for county expenditures stolen. Theao include all the new Court House vouchers for work and bills of Garvey, Ingersoll, Keyser, Smith et id omne genus. The Comptroller's friends charge this on the Antl-Tammanyltes. The latter make charges which arc the direct opposite to this. Readers must conclude for themselves. What adds to the mystery is that there was, it is said, a watchman on the premises at tbe time. Tbe wildest excitement and charges and countercharges prevail. The Comptroller thinks ho is on tho track of tbo robbers.
