I'- Oft,t0fe*|5iTl&RED.---„ - -\ ._, J$T'A5M.B R&irgT^jriRe' PILLS, are now offered for tilt \>o^t of the public, by the author, under an fl^pest persuasion, that the certificates of their efficacy and effects, and the references and testimony respecting his own reputation and character, will se- cure for them public confidence. They have been the result' of much research and experiment, occasioned by unu.su ..1 suffer* ings from Dyspepsia and a diseased liver for thirty years; During a considerable part of this period, it has been to me an object of anxious solicitude, to discover some prepa- ration of medicine better calculated to re- lieve me of my suflerings, than any I had heretofore used. And after \many experi- ments in Materia M^dica, and, among the vegetables of our country, I bave succeeded in preparing a medicine, purely and entirely vegetable, which does in an eminent degree, answer that important and desirable object. They are peculiarly efficacious in curing all disease's, originating from a disordered state of the stomach and bowels; such as Indi- gestion, Costiveuess, Nervous, and Sick, Headache, Cutaneous Eruptions t Erysipe- las, Heartburn, Sourness of Stomach and General Debility. They may, with perfect safety, be taken by botp sexes, of alj ages, in all cases' of indisposition ; and, they are peculiarly, effectual in liver complaints. In offering them to the public, I pledge 'my reputation and character, that a perfect trial of their effects will satisfy thepa 'of .tfieir su- perior excellency. In regard to ray reputa- tion and character, I have permission to re- fer to the Right Rev. Bishop Onderdonk, and the Rev. Dr. Spring, of New-York, tvhose characters are well known to the public: Extracts from Certificates of the effects oj fthe Medicine: \ It is about eight months since I have made use of Sear's-Renovating Medicine in my' family, and we have experienced the thost salutary effects from them. Thereare-scvernl others who are very anx- ious to procure it. Respectfully yours, A. GRIDLEY. Auburn, April 5th, 1838, — From the Fredonia Censor, May 31. Having made use of the article In our own family, we can cheerfully recommend it to Others, and for farther testimonials of its merits we refer the reader to a new ad- vertisement In this day's paper. EC!— The following notice is copied from the N. York Gazette—the oldest and most respectable daily journal in the Union. \ We apprehend that It would Be difficult to hunt up a better hate/ of humbug than ourselves, or to find anybody disposed to look with mors contempt upon quaoaery of all sorts, but we verily believe that We ought to speak fa- vorably of a preparation which noa-galned greaf celebrity at the West, and which conies recommended by the uni- ted certificates of all the leading members of the\ regular medical profession at Buflalo, tortified-by the testimony of a very great number of the most respectable men in the Western country, who have tested its practical ex- cellence. We allude to \ Bailey'a fluid extract o/Sarsa pariila.\ Mr. C. O. Bristol, of Buffalo, is the preparer and proprietor ofthe article, and proposes, we believe, to es- tablish an agency for its sale to this city; and there is. no reason to doubt, that the character it will bring with it and its own virtues, will render it popular.\. I T is now twenty years that ANDER- SON'S COUGH DROPS, as prepared by J. Mellen & Co., have been extensively used and highly approved of for Coughs and other complaints of tbe Lungs, leading to ConsutUjptioos; perhaps no better proo of their usefulness could be offered than that they have now stood the test of twenty years, and have been used by more than one hundred and twenty thousand -persons. Great numbers have experienced the won- derful effects of this Healing Balsam, and have given certificates that will satisfy every unprejudiced mind that the most extraordi- nary and unexpected cures have been per- formed by the use of this medicine, in cases of long standing, where oilier medicines bad produced no favorabie effects, and the most skilful Physicians had given them up as hopeless. It is not pretended that they are an infallible cure in all cases, but of such as are incurable, there are but few cases of Coughs or even seated Consumptions, but may be relieved by a timely use of this Healing Balsam. Eacb large Bottle Con- tains seventy doses, which proves, them to be a very cheap medicine. Satisfactory information may be obtained by reading the certificates which accompany each bottle, and from which tbe following are extracted. - One from Mr. Gaius Steb- bins, of Hillsdale, as to the effects produced from the use of a single bottle, that he pur- chased and gave a poor man who had been in bis employ. Also, the astonishing efffet of one bottle used by Robert Kidney, of Rochester, Mon- roe County, after being given up by a coun- cil of five physicians. Also, the certificate of the Rev. Philo Judson, a clergyman in Ashford, Conn., h3 to the remarkable effects of a few bottles, used by himself, after raising blood for some\\| time, attended with a Cough and Catarrh, he having tried many other things without obtaining any real relief, until he used these drops. Many Physicians who were strongly op- posed to the use of tbis medicine, now praise it highly and use it in their families. Facts are stubborn things. CAUTION— Beware of Counterfeits. •Every purchaser who values health, will observe that each genuine bottle we sell, has ANDERSON'S COUGH DROPS, pre- pared by J. MELLEN, stamped in the glass, and that each of tbe directions are signed in writing, JA'S MELLEN. Examine be- fore you purchase, as there are are\ a num- ber of spurious kinds in market, similar in, appearance, but very different in their effects. For Sale by Messrs. L. KELLY & CO. . CBRTIMOATES To the PuAli'c.—At the request of Mr. A. Gildluy, I cheerfully make the following statement of facts, fully believing that I shall not only eubservehis In- terest, but the cause of humanity by so doing. Mr. Grid- ley called on me on the evening of the 4th of last month, and presented me a few bottles of his \ Salt Rheum Oint- ment^ for the testing its efficacy, and at the same time gave mean intimation of Its principal Ingredients, from which I inferred that it was prepared upon scientific principles, undl entertained a favorable opinion of it; thenexteveningMr. Hoskins, one of the assistant keep- ers la the State Prison, culled atmy office, and at my request took two of the bottles, which be promised snouid be faithfully used by a convict by the name of Woodruff, WHO was under his charge in said Prison; this was one ofthe most extensive and obstinate cases of Scald Head 1 ever witnessed, of some 7 or 8 years standing. I prescri- bed for, and aticndedhim whikHrrthe commonjailof this county, last fall, previous to ltlstrtal and conviction. His entirehead, or scalp, was covered with an accumulation nf whhe scab of considerable thickness and entirely desti- tute of hair. Mr. Hoskins obtained permission, and the convict made useof the ointment although he neglected to comply fully with the directions. On trie fifth ofthe pres- ent month, being30 days from the time he commenced the useof it, 1 visited him at the Prison in company with Mr. Gridley, and was not a little astonished to find the scabs had entirely disappeared, and in the place of them his entire scalp very uniformly covered with a coat nl dark hojr, of atleast an inch in length. I consider it de- cidedly the most extraordinary cure I ever witnessed j several verv obstinate cases of Salt Rheum of long stand- ing have nlso been cured, nnd others sreln good progress In this village, and viiinily, by the use of the same, du- ring the above short period. I have never been in the practice of lending my name for the purpose of piifBug nostrums, but trust the candid and humane whetherof the ptotesston or not, will not require any nhology st my hands, in this Instance.
