John cer- tainly bas been \ stepping out\ on 'the low waves. Our readers -will remem- ber that not long ago he pulled thru station JOM'H , at Tokyo , Japan. To the average listener-in such DX is -as a rule beyond the hounds -of reason. John Stocker will soon he added to tho long list of low wave set user: - ., Frank Flessel, Jr.. is now constructing it set of this type for John and jhopes to have it finished before \ long. I heard aii announcement over WHAS , at Louisville, Ky„ the other evening that -I think would Interest ¦you. At least it will interest 'those \bugs \ who are fond of coilecting.veri- fie 'd reception stamps. WHA'S has a collection of t 'lve stamps 'for each fan that can -send in a reported reception cf their station, on five different even- ings. For instance if- you hear \WHAS for the firs t time, you write them, and they semi you stamp No. 1 , if your report is correct. Write asecond time with correct Information and sta.nm No. 2 , will be sent. This occurs until you have the entire colloot'ion of five stamps. And if a local fan during the y comiiiff summer months Would be able to tune in WiHAS on five different occasions , it certainly would be inter- esting, aii'd , incidentally, that fan would have a- set worth wh ile! But tor the past few mon ths I have been using a five tube resistance coupled receiver that is the best I have ever had. Its vol- ume clarity, selectivity, in fact , every- thing is as good as anyone; would want. 1 feel that if my list does not clinch the \ pennant\ for me in Huntington it w-lll at least put ine in line -for the DX Chanrpionship of West Neck. He not only -was the first Huntington fan to hear the -new General Electric Rocky 'Mountain .Station , at Denver , but , as he says , was responsible for pullin-g thru stations In. Idaho , Wyom- ing and California, ' which certainl y -is something to think about ! Since \Bud\ Shaw added -a \ wet\ \A\ battery to his three tube home- made receiver a short, time ago , .
