On January 1st , a Rhode Is land Red , No. . 70-7 , v; owned b y. Lone Oak Farm , Moborly, Mo., laid an egg we ighing an even four ounces , - It Is 6 ' /i inches measure d around the center an d 7% inches measured around the ends. It Is normal in texture .nnd of. desirable brown color. Not to be outdone , a Barred: Rock pullet , No. 91-8 , owned b y Atlantic Farm ,.Speonk , L. I., laid an egg, on December 2Sth , that weighed 3% ounces. It measured 6.% inches by 714 Inches; It is normal (u texture , and tinted in color. - It Is worthy of note that neither of these birds laid the day following. their unusua l performance. Needless to say, the birds could be credited with on ly one e ggi. although tliey wei ghed twice as much a s the average egg. A pen of ,Wh ite Leghorns entered by Sunny Slope Farm, and Reds from West Neck Farm tied for first place with a score of 43 eggs each. • Barred Roc ks entered by H. W.
