By the Associated Press - WASHINGTON, Nov. 30- Government economists found good omens for the future today in surveys along the nation's indus- trial front.. 'These reports included: * 1. A new peacetime produc- tion record in October-almost double the pre-war average. 2. Fewer strikes the first 10 months of 1948 than in the two preceding years. 3.- An 11 per cent drop in » .prices of farm products since January's postwar peak. Although there were some dark spots on the industrial pic- ture the total effect appeared cheering. - _ In sizing up the production re- @ords, the al Reserve board sgaid - last ht that last month's boosted its index three points tio & level 95 per cent. above the TP35-39 average. The previous high was February's 94 per cent, but the ghiuge fell to 87 per cent in April and July. Production of manufactured goods alone, the board said, better than doubled the pre-war mark, with dfrable items turned out at a rate 130 per cent, above the pre-war scale and non-durable goods pro- duced at a 79 per cent glip. 'The Federal Reserve credited the record October upswing mainly to new production marks in the steel and automobile industries.
