Fmit DJ MANUUS.— 0o Wednesday night of last week the barn and outhouses of Mr Mich ael Grady of Manlius were totally destroyed by fire, together with their contents, consisting in part of six hundred bushels of oats and four teen tons of hay, several wagons, \drags plows and' other farming utensils. We are uninform ed as to whether Mr. Grady was insured. NEARLY DROWNED.—A little boy of about four summers, a child of Mr Charles Griffin, by some means got into the creek in tho rear of Beard's store a few days since, and came near drowning. It was rescued by Mr. Porter Tremain, who chanced to see it from the bridge, and went around just in time to save him from death. Two little boys, playmates of the unfortunate, were- trying in a careless •way t o get hife oat by poking him with a slick, though apparently quite indifferent BB to suc cess. Mr. Tfemnln only rescued the urchin by plunging in after him. —A base ball tournament is to come off at Preble on Friday and - Saturday' of this week, and it is expected ten or twelve clubs will bo in attendance.
