Horse Shoe Island bears S. by K. \ E A third-class iron can buoy, w ith red and black horizontal stripes, ou a detached shoal off Peninsula Point, th e lighthouse on Peninsula Point 1>< :.rs N. by E. J E. 2} miles distant, th e buoy is s e t on th e north side of the reef in th ir teen feet of w ater, and about 300 yards from the shoalest 3 pol (niuc feet). Vessels passing to th e so u th w ard should give it a good berth. A fourteen foot s p a r buoy, jiaintcd red, on the end oi th e reef off Peninsula Point, the lighthouse on the Point bear S. N . ^ E ., d istan t one mile. The buoy is placed in 12 feet of water. A fourteen foot spar b u o y , painted blaek, off S a n d Point. This buoy is placed in 11 feet of w a ter; tho lighthouse o u the Point bears W . S. NV., distance one-half a mile from th e buoy, and th e iron docks bear west. King, of Milan, loaded w ith iron ore, ran ashore la*t evening, during thick w e a ther. A fter je t tisoning one hundred tons ot ore we jerked her off. The vessel sustained no damages, aud is now 011 her w ay to Cleveland, all right.
