F , have leased the third floor in the new postoffice building for a term of ten years, beginning as soon as the structure is completed. The rqom will be fitied up exptesaly as the Odd Fellows desire, and will contain a lodge room, banquet hall kitchen, pantry. two ante rooms and three regalia rooms. The lodge room will be located on the sooth side of the building, but further than that the arrangement of the rooms has not been decided upon. (Jban~re of Plan• a1. &be InootUnUon The Board of Trustees of the In- stitution tor the Blind have changed their plans in regard to the new bUll ding for the laundry, steam en. gine, and boilers for the heating ap- paratus, and now propose to erect a less expensive structure. Thirty thousand dollars were appropriated for the purpose, but the carrying out of their idea will consume but about two thirds of that amount. They ~repose to alter, enlarge and im- prove the present horse barn for the laundry, etc., and to build a new horse barn on another site. This, they say, will cost less than t;:zo, ooo and they will have a remainder of $1o,ooo, which they think could be well :md suitably applied to . beautilymg tbe lawn and park in front of the Institution. · Such use of the money, however, will have to be authorized by the Lt>gislature, and Messrs. Hayward and Stevens have been appointed a committed to present the matter, as soon as the Legislature is organized. Laa& Evenlu&~:'ll Lecture, The· first lecture of the M. E. course, given last evt-ning by Rev, C. W. Winchester of Rochester, was largely attended. the capacious church being nearly filled. Its new business for the year I 88 I was larger than that of any life com- pany in the world. In fact the new assurance written during the past eleven years is larger than that tran-: sa.cted Ly an}' other company. The society's policies are in con. testable after three years from their issue, and are payable 11pon satis- factory proofs of death without the usual delay of 6o or 90 days. Keeper Waite, of the County- House, came to ]a.tavia this morn- ing in search of an insane womart wl10 escaped from the cou11ty insti- tution last. night, a.nd about noon she was delivered over to him by Constable Barlovt. While J List ice Crosby was on ills way to dinner his attention was directed to an in- sane woman on liberty street anci he took her inlo custody. She walked with him peacefully until near Dr. Cotes' restdence on M ai~ street, ~hen she declared she wishccl ''to 'see a doctor. \ Officer Barlo1v happened along at this juncture ancl took cbarge of th;Cl woman and soot:l delivered her O\VCl' to the keeper. The ut:lfortunate· woman screamed loudly and attracted considerable attention and quile a crowd by her cries She was plil.ced in the keep er's cafl'ia~e and conveyed back to her lonely abode She is apparent- ly about thirty }\'CilfS of age and is said to have had 11. good education.
