In the caqe of thc:J prehmi· nary trial of the 1\'lalleys; which re- sulted in their bt ing boand over to answer in a higher ccnut, the State will assume all tile expenses with the exception of the coansel fees. The death of Jennie Crawer has, all told, cost the town of Orange, in which the body wasfou!l!d, $r,8oo. or this, one of the two 1awyers en- gaged to represent the State received $I,OOO, the other $500 Orange now comes before tile Legislature and pleads that she is poCJr, that the cost wa.s a.n extraordinarF one, that none of the puties coracerned or alleged to have been conc::erned in it resided within her borders a.nd there- fore that the Srate sbou..ld assume the bills.
