Set a Ukrainian Festival on Seventh Street The ninth annual Ukrainian Festival, a tra dition In Afenhattan’s.East Village, is coining this week on May 17, Ifi and 19, filling Seventh Street between ^ cond and Third Avenues for the weekend. Singers, dancers and musicians will pro vide continuous live entertainment throughout the three days and nights and ex hibit booths will display the diversity of Ukrainian arts and crafts, Including the hand-decorated Easter eggs, “pysanky,” wood carvings, “rldiba,\ ceramics and hand-embroidered blouses an pillows. Homemade Ukrainian foods, such as “varenyky,*’ \holubtsi “Kovbasa*’ and Ukrainian tortes and pastries will also be available for whetting an appetite. Outdoor stage programs on Friday, are at ^ m , on Satui^ay, at 2 and 7:3(^m an^ Sun day, May 19 at 1:30 and 4:30pm. They will in clude dazzling dance steps by various per forming groups and the melodious sounds of lively Ulroinian folk songs, accompanied by the national instrument, the bandura. The Festival is sponsored by k . George's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manhattan. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Church.
