There are the angular movement patterns, use of groups, unusual costumes, and origtnal music, often performed live. The major dif ference between the two is that Meehan lacks Hawkins' strong dramatic flair. Three works were presented: \Guest to Star,” a premiere, ”Cloud...Roots” (19B4), and “Bones Cascades Scapes” (1073). All three had costumes by Anthony Candido, live music composed and performed by Eleanor Hovda, and Ughthig by Blu. Each dance also used the dancers as an ensem ble, the oidy real solo being by Meehan in “aoud...Roots.” As with Hawkins, Candido created costumes for Meehan out of ordinary materials. Where Hawkins used colored “Cloud...Roots,\ but, again, if she was the “cloud,” the coetume seem ^ heavy. The choreography did not vary greatly from one work to the next. “Guest to S tv ” had the dancers swimming on the floor, and some qiurts of sudden violent actlvify. There , were several short blackouts in “Cloud...RDOt8d,” and the dancers formed a tunnel with their bodies a t one point, throu^ which one of them squirmed. Anottwr time there was a line of dancers with the dancer at the end dancing up to replace the dancer at the beginning of the line. Hands were turned at i ^ t angles to the arms in “Bones Cascades Scapes,” formed what looked like bird's heads. But all three had the dancers rolling across the floor, flailing tbeir arms like windmills, and stamping their feet to add to the music. The d ^ c e s lacked focus and a sense of movement. Even the entrance of Meehan In “ClQudi..Roots” lacked excitment.
