Ort Celebrates 60th Anniversary in Grand Style The South Nassau Long Island Region of Women's American ORT will hold its 60th Anniversary Gala on December 19 at the Oheka Castle, the 19th century home of multi-millionaire Otto Kahn, in Cold Spring Hills. Music at this black-tie ball will be provided by the Hal Hoffman Orchestra. Cocktails will be served and there will be a magnificent full course dinner. Proceeds from this evening are ear- marked to the International ORT Braude Institute of Technology now being built in Karmiel, Israel. Missing from the photo is Elaine Rappaport of Woodmere. co-chair- woman of the evening. Women's American ORT was founded 60 years ago by five women in a living room in Brooklyn. Today its boasts a membership of over 15,000 women nationwide and is the largest of the ORT member groups supporting the worldwide network of technical schools. Women's American ORl also con- tinues to function as a grass- roots, activist organization, advocating principles of pluralism, democracy, and individual liberties. For information on this Gala Event, or any other ORT activity, please call 593-2544 between the hours of9AM-4PM. t Masons Hold Religious Service TTrrw^ 11 M 11 Approximately 200 Masons attended the 42nd Annual Religious Services and Breakfast of the First and Second Nassau Masonic Districts on Sun- day morning, October 26, 1987. The religious service ser- vice this year was held this year at Central Synagogue officiated at the service. The service next year will be held at a local Church. Following the religious portion of the morning all the masons adjourned for Breakfast to the Salisbury onthe Green restaurant iri East Meadow. The guest speaker for the morning was Dr. James M. Shuart, president of Hofstra University. Dr. Schuart pointed out that Hofstra University, was founded on April 8, 1935 on land donated by William S. Hof- stra and Kate M. Hofstra. Mr. Hofstra was a member of Morton Lodge No. 63, Free and Accepted Masons and raised as a Master Mason in 1919. Morton Lodge was charted in 1797. Dr. Schuart gave a brief his- tory of Hofstra University and stressed its importance to the educational and cul- tural life of Nassau County. Dignitaries present were R.W. Edwin Currie, R.W.
