On Sunday, October 18, the Lynbrook Fire Department held their Annual Memorial Service at the Fireflghters Memorial on Sunrise Highway. The service was held to honor the four Lynbrook volunteers who gave their lives in the line of duty. After the service the Department marched to Vulcan Company for breakfast. Wc still need new bowlers. Boys and girls ages 10 to 18 are welcome. We bowl every Fri. afternoon at RVC Lanes. The van leaves E.R. High at 3:30 and returns at approximately 5:15 PM. The cost is $3.50 per week and includes 3 games, shoes, and awards. We will be bowling till May. We will still accept boys and girls for Basketball. We can use players in all age brackets. Games will begin in Dec. But practices will be starting soon. Karate is closed out for the first 10 week session, but we will register new players for our second 10 week session. Beginners are welcome. Rifle is closed out for now, but we will put you on a waiting list in case anyone drops out. Judo is still open and will accept new players. Judo will con- tinue through April. Pal 4th annual boxing show will be on Fri. Nov. 20th at 8 PM at St. Marys School in Manhasset. Tickets are $5.00 each and there will be 12 to 15 bouts. These are amateurs from the N.Y.C. and L .I. area and include Golden Glove con- tenders. For tickets or information on any of our programs call me at 678-2214. Louis Cosenza Scholarship Game TOP-RATED LYNBROOK HIGH LEO CLUB INDUCTS NEW SLATE. Marking their 16th year of ser- vice to the community, the new officers of the club were sworn in at a recent meeting by Lion President Myron Jacobson (2nd right) of the Lynbrook-East Rockaway Lions Club, which sponsors the Leos. This Saturday, November 7th. is the Annual Lou^ Cosen/a Scholarship Game. It is now incorporated with the Alumni, but let us not lose sight of the original intent of this jsame. This game is to honor the memory of someone who left an indelible mark on the students, faculty and par- ents who knew him. We honor his memory and also donate the money to keep the Scholarship in his name alive. Many of the older members of the Alumni never had a chance to meet him, nor did some of our newer ones. He was a person who did not believe his job was just teaching the stu- dents in the school. He tried to help them as a coach, class advisor and friend. Lou Cosen/a gave his advice and friendship to many of our children. I feel wc owe it to the children who never really knew their father to let them know what a fine per- son he was. We do this by turning out for this game. The proceeds go to the Scholarship, which is given to a boy and girl who meets the qualifications. So please come out and honor this fine young man. If you cannot attend the game and would like to give a donation, please make your check payable to the Louis Cosen/a Scholarship Fund, and mail it to E.R. High School. The Rocks will be hosting Manhasset for their game that day and the game time is 2:00. So come on out and cheer for the Rocks and also show our respect for l,ou Coscn/a.
