And many times only in the OBSERVER Village Board Reports Easf Rockaway Lynbrook The East Rockaway Village Board held its regular monthly meeting on March 14th. One of the big discussions of the evening was the proposal for a land-fill site at Bay Park (see last week's issue). Another was brought up by a resident and concerned gardeners work- ing on weekends. He, a gardener, disputed the Village's ban on weekend work. Mayor Reinhard noted that the Board was not trying to make it difficult fo gardenrs, merely looking out for the welfare of residents, most of whom did not want to be dis- turbed on weekends by the sound of trucks, mowers, etc. Residents of the area re- quested a STOP sign at Sachem and Davison, and following lengthy discussion of the area and traffic problems the Board OK*d the request. The Board also approved the re-instatment of Waldo Ave. as a 2-way street, with the addition of STOP signs at Maxwell & Waldo. Bids were authorized to be accepted for a new ambulance on April 21st. Trustee Eskenazi noted that BUI Gipson of the Fire Dept.. had worked night and day on the project, and Mayor Reinhard noted that the fire department was not getting many new volunteers, which made it difficult for those now working. It was noted that one of the reasons may be that state mandates are far too excessive for training. Trustee Irving Shaw advised tht he had met with Insp. Jorgenson of the 4th Pet. who promised strict action in regard Continued on Page 6 The Lynbrook Village Board held its regular meeting on Monday, March 21st.
