14 PATENT TRADER Saturday, July 26, 1969 Little Store, Taxi softballers tie for 1st in New Castle Cabbies roll 20-3; Storekeepers register 8-4 win CHAPPAQUA —Chappaqua Taxi bombed the Sinners, 20-3 and the Little Storg topped Kay's Kids, 8-4 to forge a two-way tie for first place as the New Castle Recreation Commission men's slow-pitch softball league ended its regu lar season Tuesday night Chappaqua Taxi and Little Store, both are 10-1 and were scheduled to square off at Recreation Field last night (Friday) for the league's regular season championship. Dick Freeman hurled Little Store to its victory over Kay's Kids, who entered the game with one loss and a chance for a title tie. Freeman was also the hitting star as he delivered a three-run homer to clinch matters for the defending champs. Bruce Wallin, Ben Shaw and Don Harvey had two hits each for the Winners while Bob Christman and Ed Orser led the Kids with two hits apiece. Kay's Kids, 9-2, finished the season in third place, a game behind the Taxi squad and Little Store. The cab drivers banged out 22 hits in routing the Sinners and keeping their share of (first place. Jerry Viscomi and Joe Arco led the winners' attack with four hits apiece, with Viscomi blasting a two- run homer and Arco belting out two round-trippers, Bob Chidester also homered for the Cabbies. James Pingpank had two hits for the Sinners. Mike DeAnzeris was the winning pitcher and George Clapper took the loss. Ale House scored one run in the second inning before adding two in the third, a singleton in the fourth and three in the fifth. The teams played to a seven inning 5-5 tie Tuesday and were rained out Wednesday when they were scheduled to resume play. Briarcliff took an early lead, then Cortlandt rallied and went ahead but Briarcliff tied the game in the fifth and that's the way it stood going into Thursday's continuation.
