SPORTS PATENT TRADER, MT. KISCO, N.Y., THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1956 SPORTS Yorktoivn Keglers Set, Tie Records YORKTOWN HTS. — Yorktown Men's League bowlers had one of their most successful rounds ever last week as the individual triple ' aecord was broken and the indi vidual game mark was tied-by different bowlers. Ed Putney of Hemlock View put together games of 247, 166 and 206 for a 619 triple, one pin better than the record set three years ago by Howie Orneck. While losing this mark, Orneck, who bowls with league-leading Dutchers Dairy, rolled a 268 game in his third try to equal the record set five years ago by George Anderson. Dutchers continued to hold a one game lead in the league standings, although losing two games to Re liable Fuel. Triangle Service failed to gain ground by losing two games , to Yorktown Fire Company and dropped into a tie for second spot with Aarlottas, 2-1 winners over Yorktown Pharmacy. The league race remained tight, with Pharmacy and Wagon Wheels one game behind the second place teams, and Yorktown Athletic Club and Downing Bros, only one game further back. In addition to the 268 game by Orneck, eight 200 \or better games were rolled, while 12 bowlers en tered the 500 Club. Chartelle FJeury of The Villa missed a double century by one pin but took single game honors with her 199. Ez McLeod of High Grade Market had 198. Kelly Construction, by sweep ing its match from Deer Park Grill, tied Young and Halstead, which took two games from V. A. Bowman Insurance. W. A. King, Inc., tied for the lead before the round, dropped two games to Phelp's Pharmacy to fall one game off the pace. Two bowlers surpassed the best previous series this season with Wiliam Kelly of Kelly Construct ion having a 638 triple and George Ganson of Marlon Shoppee a 620 Previous best was 603 by Brad Odell Sr Kelly became the first bowler in this area this season to roll three 200 games. He had 206, 210 and 222. Ganson had games of 193, 209 and 218. Frank Ganung of Kellys took individual game honors with 230 in his second try. All told, there were 12 200 games during the night and ,in addition to the two 600 triples, 12 bowlers had 500 or better. Team honors went to Kelly with a 591 game and 1,670 series. The win boosted Madcaps - ahead of Honebons, previous leader, by two points: Honebons gained only half a point from its match with Brooks Dairy, tying the first game. The loss left Honebons tied with Brooks for second spot. Peg Ruane of Madcaps took individual game honors with 190 in her second try, while Lil Cad- doo of Potter Buick had games of 187, 167 and 144 for high series of 498' Team net honors went to 19th Hole with a 465 game and 1,304 series.
