Arcade mayor will not seek re-election Arcade Mayor Hugh Ely announced that he will not be a candidate for re-election in March at the village board’s December 16 meeting. He gave no reason for his deci sion. His term of office will end April 1 . The terms of board members William Daniels and Louis Fulkerson will also expire next year, b u t neither trustee announced his plans. The village election will take place on Wednesday, March 18. Representatives of the vil lage fire department presen ted a long-range truck and e- quipment replacement rota tion program to the board. Their equipment “wish list” extends to the year 2012 and covers probable equipment needs to m eet the demand for services u n til then. We’ve asked who he is, but no one seems to know. We’d like him to contact us so we can thank him properly” Break-in at Pant-Ease Several suspects have been questioned by state and Ar cade village police, and an investigation continues into a break-in at Pant-Ease on Rule Drive in Arcade on Wednesday evening, Decem ber 17, According to police sources, a number of promising leads are being followed up. Inves tigators think the Pant-Ease break-in may be linked to several other area burglaries. Special Deputy Wayne Krieger assisted at the scene with a bloodhound, who led police to what may turn out to be useful evidence. Car mody has proposed to spend about $400,000 to renovate the inn, with funds to come from a variety of public and private sources. He would pay the county $5,000 per year plus 2 per cent of the inn’s gross revenues for a thirty-year license to operate the res taurant and Inn. He would also operate the park’s ski lodge and ice-skating build ing for five years, paying $1,500 the first year with the fee to increase by 5 percent each year after that. The Erie County Legis lature’s Community Enrich ment Committee is consider- in the agreement and will make us recommendation on whether to accept or reject Carmodv's offer to the full Irpslature in early January The inn which officials say is in poor onndition has been closed t.>r more than ten M'ais.
