Shortbread’s SSC protest song available The song “We Don’t Want It Here,” written by Lee Stramonine, is a protest to the proposed superconducting super collider (SSC) location in Wayne and Monroe counties. One of the song’s themes centers on the proposed threat to take the homes, farms and busi nesses of over 1,000 families to make room for the SSC. The song was first performed at a family jamboree held in Ontario at which over $3,000 was raised to support the Citizens Against The Collider Here (CATCH) efforts to save their homes and rural communities The members of Shortbread later re corded the song in a studio at their own expense and gave the CATCH organi zation permission to sell copies as a fund raiser. Joe Stramonine of Short bread volunteered to make the cassette copies for the CATCH fund raiser. All of the proceeds from the jamboree and cassette sales go directly to CATCH.
