Webster Herald, Webster, New York Wednesday, December 27, 201 7 3 A Knight to Honor and Celebrate a Warrior Webster Schroeder will be hosting a OneWebster doubleheader basketball game on January 5, 2018. The girls' Warriors vs. Titans game begins at 5:45. The boys' game is set to begin at 7: 15. Donations will be accepted at the door in lieu of admission. This is the second year this event is being held to raise money, for the Kelsey Annese Memorial Scholarship Fund. The yearly scholarship is in honor of Kelsey's memory, who was a very spe- cial member of the Schroeder Girls Bas- ketball family. Kelsey graduated from Webster Schroeder in 2012. She contin- ued her basketball career and became a member of the Geneseo Knights, where she was named a Team Captain her senior year. Kelsey tragically lost her life in January 2016. She touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She played the game of basketball with a passion second to none. Her unsellishness on and off the court provided a stellar example to her teammates, coaches and anyone she came in contact with. The scholarship is awarded each spring to a female student-athlete· at Webster Schroeder High School who possesses similar work ethic and lead- ership skills that Kelsey exhibited. Last year's recipient was Elisabeth Stowell, a Schroeder soccer player, volunteer, and outstanding student who now attends Niagara University. The evening is expected to draw many alumni and members of the communi- ty. Concessions will be sold, there will be halftime entertainment, and rame tickets will be sold throughout the eve- ning for a chance to win merchandise from local businesses. Winners will be announced during the boys' half time. Many businesses have generously do- nated money and items for the themed baskets including dinner certificates, movie passes, local Pro Sports team ap- parel, car wash passes, and gift cards. If members of the community would like to donate directly to the fund, please write checks to WABO (/0 KAMSF.
