Photo: Webster Schools Webster CSD has something more to celebrate! Both Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas high schools are two of only three schools in New York State to earn the distinction of Gold Standard Schools as designated by Next Gen Per- sonal Finance. Gold Standard Schools are high schools that require all students to take a standalone, one semester personal fi- nancial literacy course in order to grad- uate. As of the 2018-19 school year, all Webster CSD students will be required to take Financial Literacy. \We are excited that our personal fi- nancialliteracy course will be a required course for graduation. To be only two of three high schools in New York rec- ognized as a Gold Standard school by NGPF is pretty darn neat,\ said Webster Schroeder High School finance teach- er Trisha. DeBacco. \This requirement and recognition shows that Webster is committed to making sure we prepare our students to be college and/or ca- reer ready, to be financially literate, and that we are investing in our youth of to- morrow.\ There's really nothing better for a teacher than seeing actual positive impacts from the teaching we're doing every day,\ she added. \Every day it seems like there is a new concept that the students just get. The light bulb goes on. Or the questions that they ask that show they are truly interested in the real-world topics that we are cover- ing in class - budgeting, savings, bank- ing, managing debt, insurance, paying for college, investing, and more.\ According to a nationwide study of 13 million students across 11,000 high schools, only one out of six American students graduates with a required per- sonal finance course. Webster CSD is now two of less than 700 Gold Standard Schools in the nation. effiK 4 A- ALL STUDENTS 4 NGPF
