In the building thirty-flvo pupils- and two teachers hud' assembled, and eight of the children wore Instantly killed. While this was going on the people of the town, regardless of the wreckage of their own homes, ran to the school where Urey know their children wore, only to.find many of them dead and others wounded. Mothers clasped the bodies of. their clilldron In their arms. The rain began to pour down In torrents ns soon as the wind passed off, and the 500 people on the scone were drenched to the skin while clearing away the wreck. E ufala . A la . — T he city was. swept by a cyclone. The thermometer wont up to 80 degrees and the air was oppressive. With the coming of nlghttho skies wore beclouded and rain began to, fall at midnight. In the early morning there was a cessa tion of the rain. This was but for an hour, when the leaden skies and Increasing wind foretold ri storm, which came along later with terrific force. Men were almost, caught up from the streets before they CoUhi^lnd shelter. Roofs and shutters gave way and there Was terror and desolation when the eyojono passed,off to the northwest, coursing along the Chatta- hoochlo Valley. The town of Blakeley, Ga., was almost lifted out of existence, and people seeking refuge indoors were as badly knocked around by cracking and falling timbers us wero those on the outside, who were unable to dodge - fence rails and other flying missiles.
