McClelland, supervising superintendent of the district. President John J. White walked out of an executive session and tl»l» morning announced his resig nation from the board. No reason was given by-the board for the dismissal of McClelland ex cept the announcement before the secret session thgt a “ delicate sub ject ” was to be discussed. When question this morning by The Dally Press, both Charles Newburgh, clerk of the board, and Frank A. Grogan, chairman of the education committee, stated that no state ment regarding the ousting of the superintendent would be forthcom- A large number of taxpayers of the district who had attended the monthly meeting of the board were unceremoniously put out In the hall and President White announced nfter three Votes that the board would go Into executive session. The faction on the board favoring ihe retention of Mr. McClelland was in tho minority, voting against the executive session and also against his ousting. Those voting In favor of allowing the taxpayers to remain at the meeting were Mrs. Elias R. Rolleston, Frederick Kuemmc! and E. C. Wing. Later when the board was in ex ecutive session on the vote to refuse to re-engage McClelland, The Daily Press i* Informed on-good author ity that Mrs. Rolleaton and Mr Wing voted for his retention and were joined by Trustee Evans, Mr. Kuemmc! going over to the other ,ldc on this vote.
