KATONAH In a broad-scale attack on the problem of keeping informed in their faith, Katonah Presbyteri ans will usher in this fall an ex tensive adult education program among the congregation. A year in the making, this program will involve the Pastor, the Rev. Justus J. Fennel, the Minister of Christian Education, the Rev. Cecil V. Marley, and several lay members of the con gregation. Starting this Sept. 8, the Rev. Justus J. Fennel will begin to develop the theme of the year in a sermon entitled, \Jesus Christ Is Lord.\ On suc cessive Sundays, Sept. 15, 22 and 29, the sermons will deal with \Jesus Christ As Lord of Our Faith,\ \Jesus Christ As Lord of Our Life,\ and \Luke's Gospel.\ Miss lone Barrett, chairman of the adult work sub-committee of the Session Committee on Christian Education, outlined the plan this way. \The pro gram,\ she says, \is designed to make our adults b e 11 e r in formed and more articulate Christians. We are especially concerned that our parents know their faith well because they have the primary responsibility to bring up their children. To this end the curriculum used by adults this year in our adult ed ucation program will be the same one used by all the chil dren and young people, at an adult level, of course.\ The program wil be official ly launched on Sept. 22, as church school opens at 9:30 a.m. Classes will be held for chil dren, nursery age, through ad ults. The adult class will be un der the supervision of the Rev. Cecil V. Marley and will meet each Sunday. The sermon for each Sunday will coincide with the theme of the Sunday lesson in order to give aded impetus to the material learned. For those who prefer to go to church services instead of the Sunday morning class four week ly night classes will take place in different neighborhoods. These will be in the Somers, Lake Katonah, Katonah Ridge and village area. A lay member of the congregation, together with the Pastor will lead these neighborhood \home seminars.\ Commenting on the scope of the program, Miss Barrett con cluded, \This may seem like an ambitious program, but we have every indication our congrega tion really wants something like this—and besides, we Protest ants have fallen down woefully in this area and better begin to make up for lost time.\ Miss Julia D.
