In addition to the appointment of Dr. Neil Atkins as Fox Lane principal and the attendant re shuffling in .the division of in struction and special services, the board approved four resigna tions, five appointments and five reclassifications. Resignations were accepted from Carl M. Steinwachs, Mrs. Marilyn Dunham, Mrs. Mary French and Mrs. Dorothy Hel ler. Mrs. French, contract correc tor in English at the Fox Lane School, resigned because her nusband has accepted a new po sition in Lowell. Mass. Mrs. Heller, a contract cor rector in mathematics at the Fox Lane School, resigned for reasons of a personal nature. Four of the appointments in volved professional staff mem bers ; the fifth was on the non- educational level. A misunderstanding of Mrs. Floryshak's teaching ex perience at an Armed Forces de pendents' school in Germany had resulted in her being assign ed to the wrong salary level. Mr. Richter emphasized that the misunderstanding was created by the German school and notj by Mrs. Floryshak. The salary of Mrs. Eve lyn Chamberlin, a kindergarten teacher in the Bedford Village Elementary School, was raised from $8,775 to $8,875. Mrs. Cham berlin's recent receipt of a mas ters degree necessitated the In crease. Walter McRoberts, an English teacher at the Fox Lane School, was given 12 hours of salary credit for independent study completed under the auspices of the Ford Foundation. Because of the resultant change in his sal ary level, the board raised his salary from $9,900 to $10,200. As a last fling before settling down to the serious business of teaching, Miss Meyer spent the summer on an eight-week tour of Europe. Traveling with a Na tional Student Association Group she visited France, Spain, Italy, Luxumburg, Switzerland and Holland. At the conclusion of the tour she spent a day in Lon don and a day in Dublin before embarking for home. Highlights of the trip, said Miss Meyer, were a ballet in Parial, a performance of \Aida\ in the ancient Roman baths of Rome and a bullfight in Bar celona. \You might also say that I enjoyed two tours in Amster dam, one through a diamond Armonk WSCS Planning Sale ARMONK— The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service of the Armonk Methodist Church will sponsor a \Bargain Basement\ sale with a luncheon snack bar on Sept. 14. Top on my list is Swit zerland. I want to go there in the winter. Then, too, I want to see the countries that we didn't get to, especially Germany. We were in Germany for ten min utes.\ Miss Meyer said traveling with a tour was good for a first trip. \We didn't have to worry Orlandos Cover 11,000 Miles On Trailer Tours BEDFORD HELLS— Eleven thousand miles in seven weeks is the ground that Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Orlando of 23 S. The Orlandos, who traveled by trailer, visited Disneyland, rode the cable cars in San Francisco, swam in Great Salt Lake, visited Grand Canyon, B r y c e Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. burner serviceman. Mr. Orlando is now back at work at DeSilva Ice and Fuel Company, where he is an oil about meals or lodging or trans portation,, but for my next trip I want to go independently.\ The trip over on the student ship \Gurelia\ was one of the interesting, aspects of the sum mer. \It took nine days,\ said Miss Meyer, \and we had acti vities to enjoy every minute. There were language classes, forum discussions, movies, folk- dancing, regular dancing and it passed too quickly. There were only students, some in groups and some traveling alone aboard the ship.\ Asked if the tour group was coeducational, Miss Meyer said, \almost there were 27 girls and 3 boys in the group.\ County Bar Group Sets Golf, Dinner The Westchester Bar Associ ation will hold its fall golf and dinner outing Sept. 17 at the Westchester Country Club, Har rison.
