Thomas Murphy of Sarles St. spent several days Dn Lake Ontario .While he was away, Mrs. Murphy visited their daughter, Mrs. Larry Young in White Plains. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marinel- li and three children, Robert, Thomas and Janice of the Ar- monk Road are spending this week on Cape Cod. Mr. Marinel- li closed his TV and bicycle shop on 209 Main St. for the week to give his employes a vacation. Mr. and Mrs. George Halstead of 101 Croton Ave. with Mrs. Halstead's father, William J. O'Brien visited their son, Peter who is attending Camp Ithaca, in Ithaca, N.Y. this week. Peter who will be a junior at Stepinac High School in White Plains in September is taking music courses at the camp .His sister, Mary Lou has returned home after attending St. Joseph's camp at St. Joseph's near Mon- ticello, N.Y. Mr. and Mrs. Hal- stead and Mr. O'Brien will leave Aug. 6 for a two weeks vacation x>n Cape Cod. conductress, and Mrs. Gilbert, three year trustee. The affair was a three-day pilgrimage and the representatives from the Mount Kisco chapter spent the weekend in Utica. Judge Frederick Shulman and Mrs. Shulman of Boltis St. are planning a short vacation in New London, Conn. Miss Margaret Hollywood o 235 West Main St. of Dr. Le roy Heck's office is having a va cation while Dr. Heck is in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Frisbie of Byram Lake Road have been in Sacramento, Calif, on a three and one-half weeks vacation. They made the trip by air. They also went to Carter-by-the-sea to visit Mrs. Frisbie's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Norman Berk, and their four children. Miss Diana Kurtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Kurtz of Katonah, has accepted a position with the Anne Beauty Salon, Kirby Plaza. Village residents were happy this week to see Paul Burch man of Forrest Drive, around town after a seige of illness which required nearly six weeks hospitalization, Mr. Burchman is well on the road to complete recovery, and looking forward to returning to his business, Home- styles on 49 So. Moger Ave. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wiegand of 21 Leonard St. have returned from a two-week vacation with their son, Francis Wiegand, and his family of Woodbridge, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Wiegand are the grandparents of three children, Francis, 4; Judy, 2; and Kath leen, 3 months. The children's father is a graduate of Mount Kisco High School and Rensse laer Polytechnic Institute in Troy. Mrs. Catherine Alcock and Mrs. Iscilda Partelow of Mount Kisco, Mrs. Doris Clarke of Gol- dens Bridge, and Mrs. Grace Gil bert of Katonah motored to Utica on Friday to attend the Eastern Star pilgrimage there. Candy Helber, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. John Helber of West Way returned Sunday from Man set, Maine, where she spent the past month with Mr. and Mrs Richard Lemmon and family of Katonah, who were vacationing there for the month of July. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bou- chier of Kathleen Lane, Rolling Fields, and members of their bridge group had dinner at \Bit of Sweden\ in Stony Point on Saturday evening in honor of the Bouchier's 25th wedding anni versary. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Flynn and children of Lafayette St. and Mrs. Flynn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Keuhn Jr. of Pleas antville, left on Aug. 1 to spend the next six weeks at a cottage they have rented at Fairfield Beach, Conn. Mr. and Mrs. Willard R. Tick- nor Jr. of South Bedford Road left Monday for a two-week va cation at Lake Placid. En route they dropped off their son, Peter, at Camp Curtis S. Reed, Brandt Lake, N.Y., where he will spend | the next few weeks. NEW RESIDENTS Cantor and Mrs. Irving Robin son of the Pleasantville Cottage School were honored by a buf fet dinner given them on Fri day by Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Heck ler. Mr. Heckler is director of the school where, for the past four years, the cantor has been religious director. Cantor Robin son has resigned from his duties at the school to reside in Mount Kisco, where he has establish ed the northern Westchester agen cy for Baldwin pianos and or gans. He will continue to do free lance singing as a cantor. The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Beach on McLain Street is rather empty this week, due to the absence of the children, Ben nett, 13 years old, and Randall, 12, are in Williamsport, Pa., at tending Little League Camp. Their sister, Anne, is at the Camp of the Incarnation in Ivoryton, Conn. Mrs. Duncan Grant has re turned to her home on Boltis St. from the Northern Westches ter Hospital where she was a patient for nearly eight weeks. [Mrs. Grant who suffered a brok en hip is now able to be around with the aid of crutches^ Mr. and Mrs. John F. Keller, formerly of Keller's Restaurant, who have been living in Florida, have notified this newspaper they have moved from St. Petersburg to Largo, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Lesley IMurphy and daughter Leslie of Spring St. have been spending the past three weeks in California. Randy Brown of the science department at Fox Lane School presented slides on the Arctic during a luncheon meeting of the Mount Kisco Rotary Club at Ed ward's Kittle House yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fox of Barker St. are vacationing in Vermont. MOunt Kisco 6-5171 2 Area Youths Make NYU's Dean List OSSINING— Two area residents are among the 141 undergraduates at New York University's School of Edu cation who have been named to the Dean's List of Distinguished Students for the 1962 spring sem ester. They are Miss Linda Carol Grant of 29 Pocantico Road, and Joseph M. Valdhuis of RD 1 Pinesbridge. The honor roll students repre sented 3.8 per cent of the under graduate enrollment at the School of Education. All maintained* an average of 90 or better in their studies. Bonnie Prudence Courses will be guest speaker. Mrs. Thomas Ho ward a member of the Catholic Family Movement in Yorktown will discuss the Advent Wreath in the Home. On Friday, Oct. 26 the annual Bridge and Fashion Show will be held with Mrs. Thomas Fox as chairman. Sister Marie' Loretta, S.C. will give a lecture on \Understanding Your Children\ at the November meeting. In December the St. Francis plee Club will entertain the parents with an evening of Christmas music under the direc tion of Mrs. Ellen Green, music teacher in the school. Sister Mary Leonora, principal of St. Francis School will report on the new art program being given in the school in January. An evening of recollection at the Cenacle will take place dur ing April and the guild will bring their year to a close with a covered dish supper in June. Y. \Celebrating Our 50th Anniversary\ Pre-Nuptial Shower Honors Miss Sheridan MOUNT KISCO- Barbara Sheridan of 61 East Way was honored at a surprise miscellaneous shower, given by her bridal attendants on Satur day evening at the home of Mrs. Dominick Pasquale of St. Mark's Place. The playroom of the Pasquale home was decorated in pastel rainbow hues; the bride-to-be re ceived her guests seated on a white bench, beneath a pink and white umbrella. A decorated pink and white cake with an umbrella motif commanded a prominent spot on a flower-decked buffet table. Members of the bridal party, who acted as hostesses for the party were: Susan Sheridan, sis ter of the bride-to-be, who will serve as maid-of-honor, Sandy Meyers, Vivian Zaccari, Marie Di Micco and Patricia Dehmer. Reid Backers File Petitions Petitions containing 1,607 sig natures designating Ogden R. Reid of Harrison for the Repub lican congressional nomination in the 26th District were filed Tuesday with the Westchester Board of Elections. The signatures were gathered in New Rochelle by volunteer according to Henry R. Barrett III, and Nathaniel Em mons, who filed them on the first day for receiving nominat ing petitions for the Sept 6 primary. The election law requires a minimum of 500 valid signatures for a congressional nomination. The deadline for lying petitions is Aug. 8.
