Slader, is registered as a ftnior at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colo., seeking a degree in metallurgy. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Shute of Sand Street drove their son, Howard Jr., to New Hampshire last Friday. Howard is in his sophomore year at the Univer sity of New Hamphire. Manuel Monteiro of Saw Mill River Road flew home from ^exas, where he is stationed in the Army, last Saturday for a visit with his wife and parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Vanderoef of Sand Street drove their daughter, Lois, to Alfred Univer sity, New York, to start her sophomore year. Mr. and Mrs. John Flanagan spent the weekend visiting rela tives in Boston. ^The Millwood Guild of Our Lady by the Wayside Church met on Tuesday and made plans for the first fall card party to be held on October 5 in the Church basement. Mrs. Ira Tinker of Millwood Road attended a clambake at Croton Point on Saturday. Mrs. Tinker and her sister, Mrs. Ed Pinney, drove to Chester Depot, Vermont, for the weekend. §Tommy Hurd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hurd, celebrated his third birthday on Tuesday with a party at his home for several small friends. Mrs William Allanach of Pinesbridge Road had two tables of bridge at her home on Fri day evening. Joan McCarthy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McCarthy Pinesbridge Road, has re- ™ rned to William and Mary Col lege to start her sophomore year. Jack Diamond visited his son, Bobby, a student at Mount St. Joseph Military Academy, is Newburgh, this week. Edward Nichols, chairman of the Voters' Service of the New Castle League of Wo men Voters, points out the ex ception of this law in New York State. \Any man or woman in the armed forces,\ says Mrs. Nichols, \who is qualified by citizenship, age and residential regulations, may vote merely by writing for an absentee ballot. Registration in such case is not necessary. I urge parents to write their ser vice-connected sons or daughters immediately reminding them of this privilege.\ Absentee ballots may be ob tained by writing to the Secre tary of State, Division of Ser vicemen's Voting, Albany, N. Y. or to Board of Elections, White Plains, N. Y., before October 26. The request must be signed by the applicant with his home as well as his militaV* address. A postal containing a Simple state ment such as, \Send me an ab sentee ballot,\ accompanied by the above-mentioned informa tion, will be sufficient. Holyoke Alumnae Will Visit Homes The Mount 'Holyoke Club of Westchester will sponsor a tour of seven houses for the benefit of the college scholarship fund on Tuesday, October 1, it has been announced by Mrs. W. Wirt Wickes of Lawrence Farms, Northern Westchester chairman. Tickets may be obtained by call ing Mrs. Wickes at Mount Kisco 6-9513.
