NEW CASTAS: m^£gEgEg&%,' APRIL 6, 1951 jTRAVEL LtHSI I By Helen M. Water? I !U.. ™ ( Don't look, now, but spring is just around the corner and th'at means just one thing. Summer and vacation time are close on the heels of spring. • What are you going to do this year? Have you decided on the shore, ihe mountains, an all-ex pense package tour to the far West or a trip to the beautiful Lake Louise area, the Swiss Alps of the North American contin ent? Or do you want a trip to his toric Boston with a visit to the Cape thrown in? There are thou sands of possibilities and now is the time to start to think, about it. One sure sign that vacation time is almost on top of ixs is the fact that the major league base ball teams are already heading north from spring training. As the cry \play baH'^is shouted by the umpires all over the country, you should have your vacation plans all settled. Don't get caught as hundreds do and find yourself without any place to go because they have hung out the \stand ing room only\ sign. If you are undecided, then why not call The New Castle News for a suggestion, or better still, drop in for some of the colorful descriptive fold er,s of some of the best resort places in the world. You will find something there to fit in with your budget, and if you want still further help, ask the News how to get in touch with this writer. I will be glad to help you with any problems or questions you may have. For those of you who have not had an opportunity to get away for that ski weekend, you still have the rest of March. One of the best offers for this type of excitement is the very attractive package put out by Trans-Cana da Airlines in conjunction with the resorts in the Laurentian Mountain area. This area is one of the best ski sections of the en tire country, and by using Trans- Canada to Montreal, it makes it possible for you to be at your destination within two or three hours. For as little as $115 or so plus the tax on your travel ticket, you can have a week of fun in the sun and snow. If you want a .\weekend then the cost will be pro-rated depending on how long First Day you stay. You fly to Montreal in T. C. A.'s luxurious North Star airliners, and you can be assured of courteous service from the time, you board the ship until you arrive in Montreal. Try this modern way of reaching those ski areas. You will find it very easy and comfortable. If you want to take your family with you, then you can take advantage of the family plan. Once again, we want to warn you of the congested conditions in steamship accommodations for Europe. If you are planning to make a trip <by ship, you had bet ter have your agent see if he can secure your reservations for you. It is almost impossible now to get any type of accommodations during the height of the season to and from any port in Europe. For your own sake, do not delay any longer or you will be disap- i pointed. The resort hotels here in the United States and neighboring- Bermuda, Cuba, Bahamas and Jamaica are now in the process of getting their new spring fold ers out. They are all so attractive that it makes the wanderlust in me take over, and I want to throw things in my desk drawer and take off. Travel is my busi ness, and you should take advan tage of the reports that will ap pear in the New Castle News. If you have a few days or several weeks, then I will be in a position to advise you what is the bast buy for your money. I will report conditions as I find them. No trip is too small or too large for you to take advantage of this free service for advice. If you are planning a trip by car and want help with the routing, just let us know, and I'll get my pencil and compass out in an effort to help you—if you want the name of a hotel in Oshkosh, I'll get that for you too. If you have need of travel films either sound or silent, I will be more than happy to provide them for you. There is no charge for this service either, and they are yours for the asking. If you have the opportunity, take a look at the display in the Chappaqua Wine and Liquor Store. It may give you some idea for your vaca tion this summer. (Continued from Page One) minor adjustments later. At any rate the routine has been satisfactorily established.\ As a result of opening day op erations, however, one sugges tion was made by an interested observer. The angle at which Roaring Brook Road approaches Quaker Road near the entrance of the school is exceptionally acute, and necessitates a very awkward right turn on to Quaker Road to approach the entrance road to the school grounds. This is of concern to parents who drive their children to school over Roaring Brook Road, rather than to school au thorities, since no school bus uses Roaring Brook Road. The suggestion is that a cut-off road be built between Roaring Brook Road and Quaker Road to enter Quaker Road at a point conveni ent to the entrance road of the school. Such a road would be about a hundred yards in length and would cut across the base of the pie-shaped lot wedged between Quaker Street and Roaring Brook Road, which does not seem useful for other pur poses. This lot is privately own ed. Other traffic situations creat ed by the entrance and exit roads of the new school are al ready under contract to be cor- ] contrary to the usual proced of painting curbs yellow wne? parking is not permitted. rected, according to Mr. Grafflin. Busses coming toward the school along Quaker Road are forced to swing wide into the opposite traffic lane to make the turn into the entrance road. Likewise, busses leaving by the school exit road have to swing into the op posite traffic lane to turn south on Quaker Road. These condi tions will be eliminated by al terations to the entrance and exit roads where they join Quaker Road. Parking is permitted along the school road in restricted sec tions, according to Mr. Grafflin, for persons having business at the school. The sections where parking is permitted have curbs painted in yellow, somewhat Save your paper for the Scout paper drive. It helps the Scouts and it helps the country. MAURICE D.
