The Commission ap pointed Donald Miles, who, as a Commission member and prin cipal of the High School, was doubly interested in preserva tion of the annex for further public use, to present the Com mission's request in writing. The Commission decided to proceed immediately with the improvement of the Millwood playground for which $2,000 has been provided this year in the Town budget. Robert Francis, Recreation Director, was author ized to place the order for fenc ing, 150 feet of which, at $1.88 per foot, will be required for a 6-foot line fence on the limits of the field paralleling Route 100. A backstop costing $450 will also be ordered. The Commission still lacks an engineering survey of the field, however. Although other equipment and labor to provide levelling and grading will be made available through the generosity of Millwood re sidents, a roller is required ini tially. The Town of New Castle does not own a roller. The first facility to be developed at the playground will be a softball diamond. Mr. Francis reported an ex tensive schedule of spring ac tivities under way, including junior baseball, judo, adult soft- ball, (league plans to b e discussed next week), Open.. Houses in Cnappaqua and Millwood and badminton. In addition, the Commission maintains a movie projector which may be borrow ed by local organizations.
