2 • NEW CASTLE NEWS, FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 1951 Water Muddied by 2 Breaks in Main The turbid water that flowed from taps in many areas of the Town over the past weekend was not due to a return to the use of Catskill reservoir water, as many of us believed, but to a break in a six-inch water main on Crow Hill Road in Kisco Park last Saturday, March 17. Charles Dedde, superintendent of the New Castle Water Depart ment, stated this week that the break was first reported to him about 7 a.m. on Saturday and subsequently turned out to be two breaks, under the roadbed of Crow Hill Road. The unusually sharp succession of freezing and thawing during the past winter had apparently caused a shift in the heavy rock fill under the road, which, combined with load ed truck traffic, threw breaking overweight on the water main work per^week. The Subject Area committees are assigned in cur riculum subjects; the Major Sec tion-committees have concerned themselves with program of stu dies, pupil activity program, li brary services, guidance services and school plant and administra tion. The evaluation project has been undertaken this year by the Horace Greeley faculty to achieve admission for the school into the Mid-Atlantic Association, an ac crediting association of eastern seaboard educational institutions which guarantees the standards of its member institutions for wioinii the year to take auvan&a^e o* this service.
