Bedford Village 592 King Street School Tea Mothers of children enrolled in the King Street School and their teachers met at a tea held at the school on Wednesday, December 5, at 3:00 P. M. The purpose of the informal meeting was to enable the moth ers to become better acquainted with each other and with the teaching staff. It also provided and opportunity for discussion of the aims of the curriculum in the first and second grades and the problems likely to be encounter ed. Mrs. William H. Hoeft, Chair man of the class mothers, was assisted by Mrs. Lester Jorge and Mrs. Carl Giegerich. (Continued from Page 1) one too\ writes one contestant. Among contestants are many students in the Greeley School, and their suggestions often are accompanied by sharp criticism of the elders in the town whom they consider \asleep\ and \un mindful of their childrens' wel fare\. Judging- Begins As you read this, the judges are starting to sort out the contest entries and choose the winners. The three judges are the Town Supervisor, Robert Stewart; the internationally known architect, Ralph Walker; and the well known advertising consultant and lecturer, Lawrence G. Ma- lone. The judging is entirely in their hands and their decision is final. The editors of the news paper have nothing whatever to do with judging the contest. While many children have sent in excellent suggestions in the letter contest, others have been busy securing subscriptions for the New Castle News. The first prize in this subscription contest is a bicycle for the winning boy and another bicycle for the win ning girl. The bicycles have been on display for some weeks, the boy's bicycle in the window of the Chappaqua Pharmacy, and the girl's bicycle in the window of the Greeley Hardware store. This time next week the two lucky children will be aware of their good fortune. All details and pictures of some of the winners will appear in this paper next week.
