Negotiations are now under way with the Town Superintendent and the Town Board for its adoption. For tlie ten years that the popular resort has been serving the boarding house patrons of Rosendale and thous ands of people from outside commun ities this road has been poor and very frequently the basis of criticism of the Town of Rosendale. This criticism has fallen unjustly on the Road Superin tendent, for the town allegedly has never recognized this important road as its own- The many property owners who have to use this road to get in and out of their .properties, the Rosendale boarding house proprietors, and the thousands-of dally summer visitors to our town will be glad to know that at last something is being done. The road proposal is two-fold. One proposal has been before the Town Board for quite some time and sug gests the adaption of the .present traveled route. This has it® objections in the difficulty of obtaining right of way- releases -and-''the - n r c e v r lty — of rock cuts to- make the road the pro per. width, A new plan recently pre sented to the Board suggests the adop tion of an entirely new route for the road which will have one terminus in the old Lawrence Cement Company mill yard near Williams Lake and the other terminus at Gus Konen ’ s Garage on the Binnewater-Kailops Corners Road. There Is a road there at pres ent in a one-car -width and with very little work. It Is said. It can be made Into an excellent highway approach to the town ’ s leading resort. There is no difficulty of rights of way re leases on this new location. Which one of the two routes will be favored Is problematical, but it is said that the new proposed route, which follows a picturesque trail thru the woods, will be favored. The praises of thousands of car owners who use this road will go to the Town Board that makes it poss ible. At Its last regular meeting the Rosendale Township Association en dorsed any action that might be taken to improve the road appboaloh' to Williams Lake. Rudolph Ziegger opened a discus sion on the road leading from Binne water to Williams Lake. He said that recently a strong move had been in itiated to have the Town Board take this road over and maintain it the -way It should be maintained. Mr. Ziegler stated that thousands of cars use this road every summer and the constant deplorable condition of it condemned the Town of Rosendale at large as well as the boarding houses. Guests want to go to the resort but won ’ t because they think too much of their cars.. Because of this the board ing house keeper suffers, icgler stated that every business man in this town should take an active interest in see ing that this road is taken over and constructed by the Town. Others at the meeting were of the came opinion. Not only does Rosen dale reputation suffer at tire hands of local boarders but by thousands of ether car owners who use the road. The concensus of opinion at the meet ing was that this road was much more important than many existing town loads and it should be taken over and improved by the town and a com mittee of three was appointed to go before the Board to see what can be done to help. Start New Business Mr. J. Lorria of the Bronx,, N. Y., has bought the large gas sta- j tion opposite St. Peter ’ s Church in Rosendale which was formerly occupied by DeWltt.
