Y., FRIDAY, JULY 22, 1038 PRICE TWO CENTS Work of Township Association Praised Entertainment Enjoyed At the Grange Hall DeWitt Lake Sports Enjoyed by About. 800 Although the weather was not of the best over one hundred peo-. pie were at the Grange Hall on Tuesday evening to enjoy the pro gram and attend the meeting of The Rosendale Township Associa tion. Joseph O ’ Connor, president of the Township Association gave short talk on what the Association had done in the past 5 years to build up Rosendale 'and its inten tions for the future. He stated that it had not only increased the property value but was bringing lenterbainment throughout the town. ‘ . (Editor ’ s Note) . We have re ceived many letters praising the work done by Mr. O ’ Connor from people who are spending their va cation here and we wish to state at this time that if the boarding houses and hotels will cooperate with Mr. O ’ Connor we are sure Rosendale Township will be one of the outstanding Summer re sorts in New York State. .. • • ^ . When. Mr'.' O ’ Connor concluded his talk he introduced Mrs. E. Kennedy, Lecturer of .the Rosen dale Grange, who then took charge of the entertainment program. Mrs. Kennedy is well known for the wonderful programs she put on and this one was no exception. The program follows: Community singing, led by Mrs. Herman Kraemer; Acrobatic Dance, by Miss Marion Rlttner, ac companied on the piano by Mrs. Marion Hasbrouck; Duet, - by Mrs. Marion Hasbrouck and Mrs. Bue- lah Myers, “ My Mother ’ s Old, Sweet. Lullaby ” ; Toe ’ Dance, by Miss Dorothea Zaengle; Piano so lo, by June Myers, “Eileen ” ; Mono logue, by Mrs. Myrtle DeMar, \Never Take Your Wife to the Baseball Game ” ; Tap Dance, by Miss Marion Rlttner; Cowboy Songs and Yodeling, by Wilbur Upton; Tap Dance, by Miss Doro thea Zaengle, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Marion Hasbrouck; Professor Quiz, by Mr. Herman Kraemer: Contestants were Mr. Eddie Bamburger, Mr. Petro Belli, Mr. Walter Ortmarm, Mrs. Eddie Bamburger, Mrs. Kenny, Miss Dnemen. Contest was won by Mr. Walter Ortmann with a perfect score of 100 percent. Many stayed after the enter- ■ tainment and watched or played that new game “ Dart Bair All in all Tuesday night was voted an evening well spent and enjoyed by all. ----------- O ----------- DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS ■ The DeWitt Lake sports carni val Sunday attracted approximate ly 800 people who enjoyed the vari ous races sponsored by the resort under the direction of Joseph O ’ Connor, president of the Rosen dale Township Association. Celebrates 13th Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Maton Barrett celebrated their 13th wedding'an niversary last Wednesday. Meeting Republican Caucus '- ' X ' At Bloomington Thle ' Rosendale Uifion Free schools had a meeting Tuesday; July 19 at the. school house. The officers elected were; Ed ward Demarest, President; Silas- Roosa, Treasurer; Mrs. A.' M. Auohmoedy, Collector; Warren Sammons, Clerk; Charles Elles- worth, Truant Officer. There were three bids offered for the painting of the .trim of the building. The lowest bidder was Joseph Dutoher and he was awarded the contract. The next regular meeting will be held on .the first Tuesday of next month, August 2. -------------- — O ------------- — AROUND TOWN New Camp News Ads Get Results A new camp for boys was open ed last week at Earl Mack ’ s farm on the Hurley Road. It is equipped with all new and modem im provements and will accommodate 25 boys. The name of the camp is St. Mary ’ s and is a Catholic camp. ----------- O ----------- OUR MISTAKE Mrs. Mary Hill at last week ’ s school election received 73 votes instead of 23. ■ J. J. Mooney our local electrician has installed a new Universal re frigerator in the Little Flower Cottage. The owners of the property op posite Joe Hill ’ s Hotel oh Main street have cleared away the over grown shrubbery and extensive re pairs are being' made to this old land mark of Rosendale. ' ' ' '.'One of the most interesting ar ticles; waa ,a hand embroidered Shirt worn by Jessie Deyo, of Springtown, the father of William and Peter Deyo, Also a hand made blanket woven from wool raised on the Deyo farm. A hand-made counterpane made from wool raised on the Emerick farm at West Camp and woven by the women of the family 150. years ago, was another of special inter est.'\ When the Rev. William H. Emerick went to Theological Sem inary to study for the ministry he took it with him. When his grand son, the Rev. I. P. Emerick, went to study for the ministry he had it to sleep under. He expects to leave it to his nephew, James W. Em erick, son of Joel Emerick, of Wtest Camp, who goes in September to prepare for the ministry. A quilt like a large American flag made by the wife of a soldier in the Civil War, attracted much attention. A log cabin quilt 150 years old made by a woman nam ed Ellis, who once owned Ellis Is land, and a sampler said to be 200 years old, were there. A glazed muslin comforter 150 years old, much sought after by antique dealers, was loaned by Walter Keator. The 'daughters of Mr. Christiana exhibited unusual quilts made by a great-grandmother Church. A 150-year-old quilt made by a Miss Harriet Keator vied with the many beautiful modem quilts for attention. A committee of tetidea served refreshments, , :i. V- -..
