Under ■the guidance of Hanhy Yonetti the fellows rallied and became a group of united players; in other words a team. The players hit their re spective strides and showed that they knew how to play. Your Sports Editor is putting great faith in what he thinks is the greatest team that has represented Rosen- dale in a long time. ' To prove that this forerunning paragraph is not a lot of the well- known. “ ballydioo ” we present for your approval the following: Steve Mocko, Matty Bence, Ed Tilitz, Mike Donney, Ed Schmalkucke, Johnny Connell, Jackie Duffy, Ed McManus, Carl Lillberg, Sam Sinagra and a galaxy of other stars. v Manager: Yonetti is fully confi dent that his team is going to fight every game to the best of their ability. Whether they win-or lose is of no consequence. Of course, they ’ ll be out there to win but no matter how the final* score reads they ’ ll be good sportsmen. Plans were made -to give the children a picnic on the school house grounds Friday noon, the last day of school- ------------ O ------------ JOHN DELLAY FINED $10 FOR HITTING DOG The case of The People against John Dellay of Rosendale, who was arrested.on information fur nished by John Kuhlman, of Stone Ridge, for striking a dog and leav ing the scene without reporting the accident, was tried at three o ’ clock on Saturday. The dog was struck by the Dellay car at Ky- serike. Atty. Herman Cohen of Ellen- ville represented the District At torney ’ s office ,and a colored at torney represented Mr. Dellay. Bail had previously been set at $10, and this was the amouijt of the fine given him. The case came before Judge Louis Sahler of Stone Ridge. Good Roads Our Highway Superintendent, A1 Trandle, sure has all the roads in fine condition 'this year. All the roads have been scarified and oiled and it is a pleasure to ride over them. We are sure, Al, there will be no complaints about dusty roads this year for you have done your work well. ------------ O ------------ St. Peter ’ s Men ’ s Club The Catholic Men ’ s Club of Ros endale held their regular meeting last Thursday- night. First-weimprovedour .fire, depart ment, this, week we organized a baseball team and now we are glad to announce that an up-to- date band IQ cent store will open in the Lippert Building on Main street. A store of this kind is an improvement in any community. There will be more definite news bn this subject next week. --------- — Q ------------ Hold Card Party The (Ladies Societies of St. Pet er ’ s Church held a card party at St. Peter ’ s Hall, which was declar ed a success in every way. All present said they had an enjoy able afternoon. ROSENDALE Mrs. Peter Zegel, Sr., attended the formal wedding of her nephew, Mr. Lewis Sevestie, of Ebnora, N. J. Otto Hujser of Ridgewood, L. I., is., spending his. vacation, at Mr. Zaengle ’ s Maple Terrace. BLOOMINGTON ■ Mr. and Mrs. T- Nelson and family from the Hurley road, who sold their farm there, have purchased the Die- dolf property on the GreenkiH toad. Miss Ruth Hotaling is visiting her aunt in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Humbert, of the Bronx, paid a visit to their home here on day last week. . Miss Margaret Amatrano and niece, Miss Anna lAmatro of the Bronx have come to spend the summer at their cottage-on ■ Main street. A, of the Creek Locks school extends an invitation to alt children of the district, both of the grammar and pre-school age, to at tend a picnic to be held at Williams Lqke Saturday, June 18th. Sunday ’ s exceptionally warm weath er brought a crowd of guests to the amusement places of Rosendale and Williams Lake had Its best day- of the year with approximately 450 bathers at the beach. The Oddfellows will hold a Social Party on June 23rd. Says Dogs Killed His Goat Mr. Brazee of Rosendale Heights notified the sheriff ’ s of fice that dogs bad killed one of his goats. Deputy Sheriffs Vredem- iburg,- Brown and Tlnnie, fully equipped -with suitable “ dog medi cine, ” went out to investigate the matter. ------------ O ------------ MARILYN ROSE GRAHAM HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY AT HOME Marilyn Rose Graham of Bloom ington observed her fourth birth day Saturday with a party at her home. GRANGE MEETING Rosendale Grange 1501 The regular meeting of the Ros endale Grange was held on Mon day evening, June 13, with Master Henry Mollenhauer in the chair. After the reading and adoption of the minutes of the last regular -meeting, Brother Mollenhauer re ported that the Rosendale Town ship Association would hold its July meeting in the Grange Hall, and a request was made that the lecturer, Sister Evelyn Kennedy, supply the entertainment for said meeting. This Sister Kennedy agreed to do. The first part of the lecture hour was in memory of the departed members and was in charge of Chaplain Sister Deitz. Prayers were said and songs were sung and flowers were placed on the altar in their honor. After the memorial program Lecturer Sister Kennedy held the regular program which was \Flag Day\. The first on the program was a poem, “ The Flag Speaks ” , by Clin ton 'Van Nosdall, next a piano solo, “ Stars and Stripes Forever ” by Mrs. D. Misner. A poem, \Our Flag ” was read by Miss D. Zaen- gle. The Lecturer then had a base ball quizz — six ladies and six men.. This was won toy the men; socre, A patriotic drill, led toy Miss Van Nosdall, was the outstanding num ber of the program and received great applause. It was done in clock, -work fashion and was- a grand sight to see. Miss Hackett of the Home Bu reau was the judge of the ginger bread contest. The first prize was awarded to Mrs. A. Myers, second to Mrs. C. Van.Nosdall, and third to Mrs. N. Hotaling. Lecture Sister Kennedy said next meeting there would be a flower show. All memtoers were re quested to bring flowers and judg- es would give the awards to the 'best display. Chairman of the Hospitality Committee, Sister Mollenhauer, said a card party would be held on June 29 and , that all members should try to attend. It was also decided at this meet ing that 'the Grange would take part in the Ulster County Fair wMoh will be held in August. ------------ O ------------ Movie at St. Peter ’ s Hall Regular showing of sound -moving pictures began in St. Peter's Hall here Saturday evening, under the direction of A. DeLorenzo of New Paltz. ----------- 0 ----------- Stone Ridge Grange To Hold Card Party The Stone Ridge Grange will hold a Card Party and Dance at their Grange Hall, June 24th. The music for dancing will be furnish ed by Chet Davis and his orches tra. After the games refreshments will be served and then dancing. The committee is preparing for a large attendance. WHIITEPORT TAVERN OPENS FOR THE SEASON The opening of the Whiteport Tav ern will take place on Saturday eve ning, June 25th. There will be danc ing and entertainment. Music wil be finished by the Kingston Korn Busk ers. ' ------------ O ------------ Movies To Night Movies at Firemen ’ s Hall Friday night, June 17, will be the opening night for the movies at Firemen ’ s Hall in Rosendale. All western pictures will be shown. This week ’ s picture will be \Texas Tornado ” , starring The show will start at 8:30 P. M. ------------ O ------------ St. Peter ’ s Church Forty Hours Devotion opened in St: Peter ’ s Roman Catholic Church. The Mass was celebrated by the Rev. William McDonald, pastor, with the responses sung by St. Peter ’ s choir. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. A. Schultis of Esopus. On Tuesday evening the clos ing services for the Forty Hours Devotion were held at 8 P. M. Monsignor J. J. Stanley of St. Mary ’ s Catholic Church Kingston and many other visiting priests took part. The altar was most beautifully decorated with flowers. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. A. Schultis of Esopus. Very many attended all the ser vices and the procession was the largest in mary years, for over 100 men took part besides the priest and the altar boys. ------------ O ------------ If you have something yon do not want, trade It for something which you have use for.
