2 THE SUN & RECORD, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18,2007 Sodus News (Things to do) Great Pumpkin Parade WALLINGTON - Children of all ages are invited to the Halloween parade and party in Wallington next week which will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 27. The parade will begin at Jill Torrey's house at 7903 Ridge Road and culminate at the Wallington Fire Hall. This is thel8th year that the Halloween tradition has been offered in the hamlet. If the weather is inclement, the firemen will transport the children. Once at the fire hall, there will be cos tume judging for the funniest, prettiest, scariest, cutest, ugliest, and most original for appropriate age groups. Also, prizes to be awarded to adults coming in cos tume. There will be treats, pizza, cider and doughnuts and the favorite pinata. A game of hide the pumpkin - everyone wins a prize - will also be played. The Great Pumpkin is looking forward to seeing everyone. Davis, Clyde Savannah School District who a registered Republican, decided to throw moved to Sodus Point seven years ago his name into the political process because when he was hired at CSSD. October 14 - Most of the seats in the meeting room at the Wallington Fire House were filled with residents and can didates interested in getting to know most of the seventeen candidates running for local office in the November 6 election. All but a very few took to the podium to share background information and plat form as they were called in random or der by Sodus Chamber of Commerce President Mary Jane Mumby. The cham ber hosted the event; the first of its kind in Sodus history. Candidates are vying for Sodus Town, Village of Sodus, and Village of Sodus Point positions. At the town level, Supervisor Steve LeRoy is unopposed for another term in office. As he did during the last Supervi sor election two years ago, LeRoy's name will also appear on the Independent Citi zens for Cnange line for the Supervisor's position. There are two council seats appearing on the ballot. Incumbent Councilman Bob DeBadts, a Republican, is running for re election. His name will appear on the Republican line along with newcomer Kelly Grey, who won endorsement at the Republican Caucus in June. Both DeBadts and Grey's names will also appear on the ballot for town council on the Indepen dent Citizens for Change line. They are being challenged by two Democratic candidates: Jason Davis and Michael Madison for town council posi tions. Madison has previously served on the town board and changed nis political affiliations after becoming disenchanted he believes he has much to offer to the Sodus community. Sodus Town Clerk Linda VerHow, a Republican, is challenged by Democratic candidate Mary Ellen Fava. VerHow was also endorsed by the Conservative party There are two Sodus Point Village Trustee positions being decided upon on November 6. Incumbent Albert Hendrikse, Jr., a Republican, is seeking re-election. Also appearing on the Repub lican line in Sodus Point is Jim Quinn, a and will appear on their line for the town Conservative who was selected by his Clerk position. party as well. Challenger Chris Nicol won the Democratic Party's en dorsement to run for the Justice position. Richardson of North Sodus Lodge No. 454 has been appointed dis trict deputy grand master of Wayne dis trict for the 1967-68 term. THIRTY YEARS AGO A house valued at more than $85,000 burned to the ground late Monday after noon. Betty J. Teeter, of Tunley Road, had left the house to visit her daughter in Marion 20 minutes before the fire started.
