Pal-Mac Red Raiders defended their Section V, Class B title on Friday, retaining the Championship against last year's rival in the finals, the Bath Cougars. As #1 seed this year, Pal- Mac was the team to dethrone. Bath had given it their best shot again, losing 59- 43, following an intense effort in the first half. Moving up a notch from #3 seed last year to #2 this year, and touted as the hottest team in the league with 10 straight wins going into Sectionals, Bath was poised for an upset of the #1 seed Raiders. \I kind of feel sorry for them (Bath). Going to the finals two years in a row and not winning is tough. I have a lot of respect for Coach Orday, I feel kind of sad\ said winning Raider Coach Chip Tatro, \But not too sad,\ he added Pal-Mac's game plan was to control Bath's point guard, Mark Perry. With some outstanding defense led by Randy Bellefontaine, Perry was held to just 3 points in the game. \We started with a 12-1 lead then we expected them to come back and they did,\ said Coach Tatro. At the half, the score was tied 23-23. Brandon Redmond, coming off a 1 for 7 'shooting performance on Tuesday, went to double digits scoring (14 points), with three'3-pointers in Friday's finals. Back in the game after the half, the Raiders heated up. They pulled to an 11 point lead, then pumped it up to 16 points. \We got great play fiom Nate Kenyon and Matt LeMoyne, who were also in double digits (14 and 15 points respectively). \Our secret weapon, Randy Bellefontaine, came in and gave us 9 points in the 3rd quarter and never let up,\ said Tatro, of the Tournament MVP. Named to the All Tournament team were Kenyon, Redmond and Bellefon- taine. It was announced at the Section V Luncheon on Thursday, that Raider Coach Chip Tatro, was voted Class B Coach of Year. He received his award following the game on Friday at the War Memorial. Pal-Mac - will face the Class BB champ, Honeoye Falls-Lima in the State qualifying round on Wednesday at 8:45 pm at the War Memorial. HF-L has the distinction of defeating Pal-Mac at the beginning of the season at the Victor Tournament in overtime. The Raiders will be ready for the rematch, with a 21-2 record and three Sectional wins under their belts. Pal-Mac's Brandon Redmond (lem protects the ball fi-om Mynderse's Rob Dressing in Tues- day's Semifinal game. Pal-Mac successfilly defended their Class B title on Friday, defeating Bath, 59-43. Redmond was named to All Tournament team. SECTION V, CLASS B CHAMPS: Palmyra-Macedon team members include : Matt LeMoyne, Randy Bellefontaine, Brandon Redmond, Craig Ikewood, Jim Rouland, Greg Davis, Dave Ward, Nut Kenyon, Josh Hunt, Justin Tome, and Mike Wilson.
