After lengthy discussioix between the. Public Se-~ce Commission, NY Tel, Rochester Tel and Walworth, a proposal was .ironed out which Town supervisor Fre Guelli called \An excellent pro- . posal. It meets the -needs of the com- munity. \ Key points of the agreement as presented by Dick Morris are: January 1,1991: - mileage charges will be eliminated. lanuary 12, 1991 - Walworth residents living in the exchanges of 524 and 986 will be able to call each other -. + toll free. , - November 1991 - A11 Walworth exchanges except 597 will be able to call each o$&er without charge: Walworth residents living in the 524 exchange area will be able to call the Fairport exchanges of 223,388, and 425 toll free. Residents of the 986 exchange in Walworth can call the Webster exchanges of 872,265, -and 422 witkout charge. W-alworih section of 597 exchange - NY Tel is reluctant to break up the 597 exchange area before the residents (533 phones) that could be affected, are polled and allowed to vote on the pro- posed changes. NY Tel will propose that residents of the Walwoith 597 exchange area merge with the ',986 Walworth exchange area thereby gaining the rights of the 986 exchange. 'If approved, resi- dents of the 597 area will be able to call Rochester as well iis other areas which are now toll, free for the 986 area. The current 597 base upto match = that of 986 but .will be greatly offset by - the toll free meas gained by j&hhg 986. Ballots $l be mail@ & Ocbber. If approved by the' 597 exchange, the changes will go into effed March of 1992 with 2 months notice given to. residents.
