Military Ball Will Feature Benny Lewis The 6th annual APROTC Mili tary Ball will be held April 28th in the Mazy Seaton Hall in Klein- hans Music Hall. Featured will be the music of the Benny Lewis Orchestra known as “the Glen Mil ler of Canada”. Lewis is no new comer to the UB campus haTinj: played at the MUD dance two years ago. Dancing will be from 10 to 2. Dress is semi-formal for the gen eral public and formal dress blues for all cadets. The highlight of the dance will be the crowning of the honorary group and squadron commanders. \Invitations to Buy,\ M ud Parade Theme The theme of this year’s Moving Up Day parade is “Invitations to Buy.” The parade will commence at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 12. This year a plaque will be awarded to the best float entered by the Niagara Frontier indus tries. The seven divisions of the parade are official cars, sororities, 2 fraternity divisions, sports cars, business and industries, schools, Md independents. Floats will be j u d ^ on general appearance and originality. They may not exceed the height of 18 feet No brand names or trade marks may be used. Sandy Beckman is Chairman of the Campus Committee. IFC Sing Is Tonight at 7:30; Awards are Planned at Dance This year the annual Inter Fra ternity Council Sing will be held in the Bennett High School Audi torium. Starting at 7:30 p.m., eleven Greek organizations will compete for the coveted trophy. 'Competition will be keen since Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, win ner for two consecutive years, will be out to win again this year. In the event that they do, the trophy will be theirs permanently. Other fraternities entered are Beta Sig ma Rho, Kappa Nu, Kappa Sigma Kappa, Phi Kappa Psl, Phi Si^ma Psl and Sigma Alpha Mu. Alpha Gamma Delta, Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa and Theta Chi are the soror ity entries. Immediately following the Sing, the evening’s activity will shift to Norton Union and the “Charm Cap er Dance.” Dixieland music, the collegiate rage, will point the way to the Auditorium. Awards for the winning fraternity and soror ity entries will be presented at this time. The dance, admission free. Is be ing introduced as part of the Sing in anticipation for next year when the ITO Council plans to establish a new tradition — an annual “Sing and Ball,” and also to give the judges adequate time to tally their scores. Tickets will be on sale today in a booth in the lobby ot Norton. They will also be on sale at the door. Will Present \Cosi Fan Tutte'^May 5 - 9 The Music Department' of UB9 will present, in honor of the 200th anniversary of the composer, Mo zart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte” (Women are like that), in English. This opera'is trantdated from the Ital ian into English by Ruth and Thomas Martin, the leading trans lating team in the U.S. today. This opera will be fuUy staged with costumes and scenery on May 6, 6, 8, and 9 a t 8:30 P.M. in Nor ton Auditorium. The leading tenor role of Fer- rando will be sung by the distin- guised Canadian teyor Jon Vick ers. Other leading roles will be sung by students of the Music De partment of UB in alternate casts: Fiordiligi — Ruth Johnson, Pa tricia Yannello Dorabella — Vtvton Girard Ferrando — Jon Vieksrs, Stan ley Wieezorek GuglieVma — Robert Bauer Don Alfonso — Ronald Beattie, William Wagner Despina — Evelyn Bloom, Eu genia Annas The music for the opera wUl be performed by the UB Chorale and Symphony Orchestra under the di rection of Herbert Beattie. The stage director and manager and artistic consultant respectively are Frank Hengerer and Henry Hollenstine. The tickets are $2.00 and may be purchased at the office of the Music Department, 260 Winspear Avenue or at the booth in Norton on the nights of the performances. Mail orders will be accepted also. Unanimous Vote Elects President Dave ’Tmax was elected unoppos ed as president of the 1966 Board of Managers at the first meeting of the newly-elected board Wed nesday night. Dave was elected to the Bostfd as a candidate-at-large and was sponsored by the ABLE party. “I appreciate the confidence showa In me. I hope that I can fill the shoes left by Sal,” he said upon assuming his duties as president. Dave is from Lakewood and Is a graduate of Southwestern Central School. He is a classics major and pre-law student In the class ot 1968. Truax has served on the Student Activities Committee; Mixer Oom- mittee; Welcome Weekend and Orientation Committee. Don Carrel was elected vice-presi dent of the Board. Carrel has serv ed as president of the IFC on cam. pus and was elected to the Board as a candidate-at-large from ABIJI party. ”l' shall work very closely with the ’Board and will act as the rep resentative of the student on cam pus,” he said. Three other candidates were nominated for the post. Defeated by Carrel were Bob Blake, John Allen, and Ron Hettich. Patty Yeates elected Secretary of the Board was a candidate at large from ABLE party. Patty is a member of the NSA, International Club, and MUD Committee. Peggy Klein won the office of Corresponding Secretary of the Board. Joe Kublsty wah named the at large member of the -Executive Committee of the Board. Joe has served as Chairman ot the Steer ing Committee. Opposing Kublsty was Bob Blake. Electiona are being held for President, Vice Pres., and Secretary of the Soph., Junior, and Senior classes, and three Soph., five Junior and two Senior Studoit Council representatives. Freshmen run for Soph, offices. Sophs, for Junior of fices, and Juniors for Senior ofiieea. Candidates must have at least a 1.0 average and be registered ia the School of Arts and Sdencea.
