Able Retains Control of Board S p e c tr u m P h o to by Bill R y a n Richard McGinis th r e a t e n s Annette Frank while Tony Drake watches In Blue Masquer rehearsal. Moliere Revived Masquers Will Present Physician^^ Tomorrow Nite “The Physician in Spite of Him self”, by Jean Moliere, will be pre sented by the Blue Masquers this week, director is John Templeman Douty; Ass't Director, Carolanne Sverdrup. Curtain, 8:30 on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 on Sunday. For the second production of the season the Blue Masquers have e:one back 300 years in history for a farcical satire on the medical profession. In this delightful and ribald comedy, the character of Sganarelle, a lecherous country bumkin who is forced to become a \Physician in Spite of Himself”, is as ageless as the Commedia dell’ ^rte from which it is derived, and is as up to date as the contempor ary TV comedian. The play makes excellent use of the slapstick situ ations of the Commedia with Mo- liere’s brilliant satire, which ex tends even to the actors them selves. We saw the show at an early dress rehearsal, and it must be re ported that the Masquers have done an excellent job. Richard McGinis is outstanding as the obstreperous Sganarelle. The part is difficult to portray for it calls for a style off acting not commonly met in mod ern theater. Annette Frank is very convincing as his shrewish wife. We recommend that you all view this excellent production.
