QUALITY and SERVICE JAMES M, DWYER TAKE YOUR PRINTING TO THE REPUBLICAN OFFICE Printers of THE As the gift of tlie class of 1922 the equipment for a dramatic labora tory, or classroom theatre, is shortly to be installed in Room 1. Present plans call for hanging a curtain across the middle of the room. This will make one half of the room available as a stage, while the chairs will he moved to the other half for the accommodation of the audience. The valance of the curtain will be semi-permanent, whereas the curtain itself may be easily taken down and removed, when not in use. Behind the curtain will be placed a complete lighting equipment, con sisting of four large border lamps which can he “spotted,” and a set of portable footlights. These will all be controlled from a portable switch board which, will be furnished with the necessary switches and “dim mer s.” Enough current can he supplied so that light of any required color or intensity can be supplied to any de sired part of the stage or may he A L U M N I N O T E S Salvatore Villa, of Chicago, 111., and his family visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Abbott. The family formerly resided in Geneseo, where all oi the children were students in the Genseo Normal School. Two of the daughters are pharmacists, and one is a physical training instructor of 2,000 pupils in two of the Chicago schools. Glad T o Get T h e “I am inclosing $1 for my subscrip tion to The L aim r o n. It seems so good to be able to keep in touch with Geneseo,” writes Hazel E. Lewis, a graduate of thee lass of 1919. Miss Lewis is teaching at Letch- worth Village, an institution for the feeble minded. “It is a lovely build- !ing ing, being new and fitted with all modern equipment. It is a wonder ful work; and a big responsibility.” Other Geneseo graduates who are teaching at Letchworth Village are Jean Sparrow of ‘20, Mary Follett, and Maurine Millard,, both of ‘22. Hoyt-T ucker Miss Helen Tucker was united in marriage to George Hoyt of Perry on October 19th. The ceremony was per formed at the home of the bride’s parents in ITornell. Mrs. Hoyt entered Geneseo Normal last February, and this year she lias very capably filled the position of art editor on the staff of The Bowman-Fox The manage of Miss Hortense Fox to Bernard R. Bowman of Avon took place at the home of the bride’s par ents in Wolcott on October 17th. Af ter a short wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. flooded over the entire acting zone. The entire electrical equipment will be portable so that it may be used elsewhere and will not interfere in any way with the usefulness of the room for class purposes. With this equipment and the nec essary simple scenery, it will be pos sible to present classroom dramati zations under almost ideal conditions- Thus, when a play of Shakespeare is being studied, scenes from the play can be presented in an atmosphere which is conducive to evoking his best powers from the student. So equipped, the room may he used intimate type. This will obviate the necessity of using other rooms which are not adapted to this purpose. So far as is known, there are very few schools which will have such a completely equipped dramatic labora tory. It is eminently fitting that through the generosity of one of its own classes Geneseo should lead in the recognition of the educational value of the dramatic instinct which is inherent in all. Bowman will live in Avon. Mrs. Bow man was a graduate from the Gen- cseo State Normal School in 1921. Callihan-Bushnell Word has been received of the mar riage of Miss Harriet Bushnell of Corning to Mr. William Callihan. AL*. Callilian graduated from Gen eseo Normal in 1921.
