These m e rt_ will continue in college, ta k in g pre-induction N a v a l training c u r r ic u la in a n inactive status u n til co m p letio n of tw o academic years. A t the end o his third semester, th a t is, after lie Ira s com p le ted the firs t h a l f of lii.s soplio m o r e year, the Y - l m a n will ta k e ; comprehensive general exam in a tio n prepared by t h e N a v y D e p a rtm e n t C>n the basis of the grades a tt a in e d on these exam inations the N a v y w i l l select 15,0011 m e n a y e a r for tra n s f e r to Class Y-7 and 20 ,0 0 0 a y e a r fo r transfer to C lass Y - 5 for a v ia t io n c a d e t training. Those accepted fo r V - 7 w i l l be perm itted to com p le te th e ir college courses before being called to a c tiv e duty, unless th e exigencies of the war make this impossible, O n com p le tion of their college courses, th e y will receive R e s e rve M id s h ip m e n train in g leading to a commission in the Naval Reserve. Those selected fo r Class Y - 5 w i l l he _permitted to lln isli at le a s t th e equivalent of th e fo u r t h semester at college before starting their tr a i n i n g as student pilots.
