Another gift of $50,000 was made by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the new engineering building which is being erected at a cost of $ 75 °> °00- T h e Yale News has been enlarged so as to print more news and be a paper less in the nature of a Y a le daily bulletin. Considerable interest has been shown a t H arvard in the study of Esperanto, the new universal language. The Esperanto C lub now numbers sixty members. Small groups o f members hold regular meetings for study. U p at St. Lawrence, the fair “ co-ed ” is causing the faculty a lot of trouble. The St. L . girls possess, like all college maidens, many charms in the eyes of the sterner sex and, ’tis said , tempt them to slight their studies. A.s a partial solution o f the question there, wit ness the following letter sent to each of the Greek letter chapters at St. Lawrence : ‘ ‘ The Faculty instructs me to acquaint y o u with t h e following resolu tions, passed at a recent meeting : I. Each fraternity and sorority shall b e limited to two house-par- ties per college year. T h is limitation does not include : a. Parties given during the Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter recesses. b. The so-called “ rushing parties ” a t the beginning o f the fall semester. II. All house parties and rushing parties shall close promptly at 12 o ’clock. III. The established public functions known a s the A lpha, Beta and Junior Balls shall be allowed as has been the custom.
