1 68 The H obari H erald college play i s to be given we must have men, a n d if for no other reason than t o preserve the true Hobart atmosphere, we ask men to come out. T h e managment is considering the advisibility of giving an opening performance out of town to tak e off the roughness of the parts. But w h ile we adm it that such a thing would be valuable for the play, we have other things to consider. The play is strictly a H obart production, m aking use of scenes, names, a n d incidents which occur in G eneva alone. Such being the case, would an outside audience appreciate t h e situations ? In case they did not the players would get a “ frost.” Moreover on account of th e large company and the cost o f the transportation, the show would have to be presen ted near Geneva. N o w if the show was poorly received, the musical clubs would suffer, because they are going to play i n all the neighbor ing towns th is season. F o r some y e a rs now t h e constitution of the Athletic Constitution Council has been lost. New articles have been Of the Athletic added to it by the college body and its actual Council. functions a r e very ill defined. There is to be a new set of rules drawn up soon, so we understand. W h y would i t not be a good plan to have these articles printed so that they can be preserved and also distributed to the members of this body as the other colleges d o ? T h e prospect for the musical clubs is very encourag- Musical ing, to say the least, this year. As yet the glee Clubs. club have not rehearsed because they have held off fo r the comic opera. The manager has the option of several dates for a number o f towns, and is preparing a much better and m o re extensive schedule than last year. W e have no trouble in securing dates in places where w e played last year. There is som e talk o f taking a four d a y trip t h e last of February. This brings up the question o f excusing the men f o r cuts, thus taken.
