* 5 ° The Hobart H erald C a p t a i n C o u r r k y ’ s W o r k . The star performer of the game was Captain Coursey of the soldiers. He played his own time game behind the bat and to his unceasing efforts is attributee the fact 'that Hobart’s'score wasn’t much larger. Codington at first base played a nice game. Hutchinson was in the box and worked hard. Hobart seemed able to find his openings with persistent regularity, however, although with fair support Hutchinson’s showing would have been a s good as Bremer’s. G am e I n D e t a i l . Hobart started things in the very first inning. Both Johnson and Williams hit safely, the first two scoring on the latters hummer. Fast work b y Coursey caught Bremer at first and Williams scored on Rip- pey’s hit. Wegner and Rogers followed with hits but withthree men on bases J. Rippey and Howell were easy outs. Boyd and Coursey hit safely for the Soldiers but fast fielding blanked the side. F. Johnson opened Hobart’s second inning with a slashing grounder. He stole second and was sacrificed to third by Williams, A. Johnson having fouled out to Coursey. Bremer’s timely hit scored Johnson. Stapleton opened with a hit, went to second to Wegner’s bad throw to first, got third on a wild pitch and was caught by Williams while at­ tempting to purloin the home rubber. Van Geison fanned, Lindsay hit safely, but Breuer went out from. Bremer to Rogers. Wegner’s slashing hit marked the opening of Hobart’s third session. The big fellow went to third on Rogers’ safe one and scored on Howell’s hit. Johnson hit towards second base and Howell scored on Breuer’s wild throw. Boyd fumbled A. Johnson’s grounder and F. Johnson scored. Williams hit safely but Bremer and Rippey flied out. Bremer had an easy time disposing of Hutchinson and Boyd but Coursey’s h it followed by Codington’s two-baser and singles by Lovejoy, Stapleton and Van Geison netted three runs. Wegner hit safely for Hobart but ,was caught going into third on Boyd’s recover o f Rogers’ safe one. Rogers’ scored on Howell’s hit. Company B. went out one-tv, o-three in its session.
